I really don’t like using OBS to broadcast, but it does (or did) exist for a reason.

We all know that Adobe Flash is coming to the end of life and will be officially dead in just over a year.  That is a problem for cam sites who have long relied on it for handling the video streams, both the displaying for viewers and the transmitting from the Model’s computer.

Converting to the viewers’ interface to HTML streaming wasn’t hard and most sites did that a while ago, but broadcasting software has lagged behind.

One option for broadcasting was OBS which was way more complex than most models really needed. I can use it, but always end up not doing so because the Flash broadcaster is simpler.

Today on Chaturbate I noticed that they are beta testing a new approach.

WebRTC broadcasting.

This is a modern HTML way to let web pages, such as the model broadcast page, access the hardware, like webcams, and transmit that data back to the webserver.

The Chaturbate broadcaster Beta window using WebRTC looks like this:

It is a lot simpler to use than OBS, just like the traditional Flash broadcaster it is all in a simple web-page interface.

I’ve been broadcasting for about 30 minutes now using this new beta, and I’ve had more tips than average.  Maybe the higher video quality makes me look better?  Or maybe I’ve just been lucky.

One thing I’m sure of is that I’ll spend the rest of this session and see how it goes!  If the tips keep coming then I’m a) going to cum and b) gladly declare OBS dead.  Long live WebRTC!

If you want to try this then look out for the beta button, or simply add ?webrtc=1 to the end of your broadcaster URL.  Let me know in the comments below or the forum what you think about it.
