General:

At first I thought camcity.com was some very old camsite that somehow I had missed finding for years, but a little digging around showed that though this domain has been doing something for many years it is only in the 2012 that it really became an adult webcam chat site as we know it.  I guess the domain name got bought up from someone who previously wanted to be like "CircuitCity" but selling webcams.  Well now the site sells webcam chat, so it's in my area of interest!

Anyway today camcity.com is a nice small and modern site with a few unique features that certainly make it worth a look at.  Although there are less than 10 chatrooms running at a time, and I've seen as few as 1, they are interesting hosts and a good site.  The only real problem is that the pricing of shows is way up there with the major sites like flirt4free and this seems a bit unreasonable for a new startup.  There is still the chance to use it as a tipping site so that may still make it reasonable depending on the host and on your interests.

Their tagline on the logo says "Watch Earn Enjoy", so that's fair enough.  Only they never mention "earn" how much. 

There are visitors there and when you go into free chat you get to see right away how many people are there, around 10 to 20 is common but of those only a few registered paying members, more than half are guests or silent members who don't speak up.

I've seen one of the hosts struggle for quite a bit to get her cam to broadcast. But at other times video chat has worked fine.  The people in chat have been very forgiving and helpful when tech issues come up and maybe it was just that moment I was there but I've generally found the viewers at camcity.com to be a nice group.  That isn't to say there are not the normal beggars and "open chest bb" crowd, but they are not the whole picture.

On the other hand as well as some nice chatty hosts I found a few dead-bored and even rude and disinterested ones.  Shouldn't make generalizations I guess.

There are a few strange quirks, like the "filter" system to let you find the hosts you want to see is generally nice and reasonable but has some oddities.  Like the "age" has a "12-23" choice!  Sure hope that there are no 12 year olds on this site, either side of the camera.  Then under "Region" they have Filter by region Hide Africa Asia/Pacific Islands Australia Central/South America Europe/Russia North America United Kingdom .  Never seen United Kingdom separate out like that, I know the Brits don't consider themselves European but still seems strange.  You can actually filter more than that down to "Nationality", but I bet a lot of chathosts don't want to say their real nationality so this is probably not that helpful.

For tipping or privates or group chat you need to have Tokens.

Tokens are around 10 cents each, very slightly cheaper if you buy in bulk.  So a basic token purchase is 200 tokens for $19.99 while for $74.99 you get 900 tokens which is ever so slightly cheaper.  Billing seems to be going via epoch.

When you are in chat the controls on the whole screen are pretty straightforward, slightly MFC inspired, but generally smoother working I think.  You can resize and hide parts of the screen you don't need, easily find other hosts online you want to see and so on.

There are nice simple controls to hide the chat messages of guests and or basic members, which quickly makes the text chat easier to follow.  And a link in the left menu prompts you to start your own webcam.

Certainly it has potential but a lot of small tweaks need to be done, and they certainly need more models.  Which they are not going to get unless they provide better info, but more on that in the models section of the review below.
