Flirt4free adds another video streaming technology, this one aimed at reducing latency or lag in video streams.

One of the big down sides of traditional cam sites, vs Skype girl shows, is that the video isn’t real-time. There is a small delay between the girl’s camera and the viewer’s screen, while there is no such lag for text chat or vibrator controls.

Several cam sites now have options for different technology, and while as a viewer you might not care too much as long as it works, for those aiming to get the perfect “like being there’ experience the ability to choose the streaming type is a plus.

MyFreeCams has had a range of streaming video options for a while, though we confusing names that I don’t really see the significance of. Stripchat has the “low latency” switch in the controls, and now Flirt4Free brings in “LL-HLS” or “Low-Latency HyperText Transport Protocol Live Streaming”.

This doesn’t make a difference to broadcasters. Anybody using OBS is streaming to the F4F servers is using RTMP which has little delay at all, but it does mean that the path from Flirt’s servers to the viewer can now use this more modern faster protocol.

Will you see a difference?

It depends on a your local internet connection and you really have to try the different options to see the one that works best for you.

Now with LL-HLS added to HLS and NANO you have more to choose from.

Don’t forget that what works best for you at home might be different on a mobile, and different again in the office.

If you are watching Flirt4free girls in your office though you have bigger troubles, but I do suggest you don’t ask Corporate IT to help you if your camgirl streams are lagging!
