Gaming and cam girls have gone together since the rise of live-streaming platforms. And while some general cam girl sites have integrated games into their normal live video chat it is only recently that two sites, Eplay.com and Joystick.tv, have emerged as the leaders in combining gaming and camming.
In this comparison I’m going to give my impressions both as a cam girl, who plays the occasional game, and as a viewer who likes to watch girls playing.
I have to say at the outset though that I’m not a hard-core or serious gamer, so this is “gamer cam girl lite” if you will. Therefore please excuse any mistakes I make about the gaming side! The camming part I know what I’m talking about though.
The contenders
Now that Plexstorm is dead the only real contenders to the title of “best gamer cam girl sites” are Eplay.com and Joystick.tv. Just briefly lets remember the ones that have fallen by the wayside:
The zombies
A few cam girl gamer sites have come and gone.:
- www.gamewithme.com is dead
- www.gamelink.com is just a F4F whitelabel
- nudegamer.com was a scam and is now dead
- plexstorm went bankrupt and failed
Now that the competition has dwindled, Eplay.com and Joystick.tv are the only choices for game-focused sites. They are the places for gamers looking to interact with cam girls who are into video games.
As an aside, it is possible to find girls gaming on other cam sites like Stripchat, Chaturbate and MyFreeCams, but these are not dedicated gaming platforms and it can be harder to find them.
Initial impressions
Arriving at both sites and you are greeted with a thumbnail screen of a group of live cams that are available. Both have interesting things to look at, with ePlay being a bit more explicit but both show that sex and games are the order of the day.
Both have a typical “18+” agreement to click, though Joystick.tv puts it in the corner while eplay overlays the screen center, and once through that you are free to start browsing.
Although marked “Live” the thumbnail of the rooms on Joystick are not showing a live feed but a promo image, and those are roughly SFW. A lot of them are decorated with GIF-style animations and text overlays. By comparison, ePlay is just frames from the current live stream.
This makes it much easier to know what you are going to get at ePlay.
Winner: Eplay
Watching for free
Both sites let you watch, and hear, for free but not forever. After a few minutes, Joystick starts to ask you to join or log in and stops the stream. By comparison, eplay will pop up to ask, but the stream keeps going behind the pop up and you can x close it and just keep watching.
Over at Joystick, you have to keep reloading to watch the free video.
You will need to create an account if you want to just voyeur perv and watch girls at Joystick, while ePlay lets you be that fly-on-the-wall for as long as you like.
Winner: Eplay is ahead if you are cheap or too chicken to sign up
Signing up and logging in
If you want to get anywhere on either site then really you need to sign up and log in.
Both sites will intermittently prompt you to “Join for Free” as Eplay puts it, and they both offer signups by
- Twitter / X
- Google / Gmail
But Eplay also adds the option for signup via SMS / Texting.
Joystick encourages you to not just sign up to watch, but also to be a streamer. “Become a streamer and earn 80%” is what they say, and as a camgirl I know that works, but more on that later.
I’ve tried multiple ways to sign up and they all basically work, there isn’t a technical issue here so it is more about what you find convenient, and what gets you the right level of privacy and safety.
Eplay is also offering the “magic link” login method which seems to be a new trend, though it is really just a gateway into a regular email signup process as you will see.
To use this click “login IN”, not “Join Free”, then right at the bottom of the login box is a “MAGIC LOGIN LINK”. Use this to get an email from [email protected] to you with the subject “Confirm your email… let’s play đź•ą”. The email can be sent to any email address you choose, and that email contains a link that “magically” takes you to a sign up page where you get to choose your username and password.
In the end this create an email and password type account, but at least it is a bit easier. Notice that you can NOT change your username later.
This range of different choices for signing up makes eplay the winner here, though at the same time joystick.tv is not in any way bad, and for most people is perfectly ok, just it isn’t quite as flexible and accommodating as eplay.
I’d got with eplay here, but if you like one of the choices on JS.TV then the login process shouldn’t be a barrier, it also works perfectly well.
Winner: Eplay but joystick isn’t bad
Browsing for free
Presuming you have an account created and are an unfunded basic member then eplay and joystick both let you browse the models and watch videos for free. In addition Joystick.TV loads your account with 25 tokens for free to get started. It isn’t a lot but at least you are not a poor grey.
No such luck at eplay where you are empty-handed, as is typical at most sites, and you need to pay $5 to get 25 tokens, or do the “invite friends” thing which can get you 50 for free. But who does that, are you going to send your eplay.com referral link into your neighborhood group chat?
No, I didn’t think so.
Girls gaming
So are these streaming cam girls on a game site, or are they gamers on a camgirl site? At ePlay most of the rooms are your typical cam girl that you would find at Stripchat or Chaturbate, the leading girl when I was writing this was a young-gamer in style, who was chatting topless and talking about games though not actually gaming at the time.
A few of the other rooms had gamer girl setups but overall it is more about gamer-girl style or esthetic than actually the games. It will be easier to find someone to chat to here who knows about your gaming interests than at a regular site, but it isn’t wall-to-wall games.
Joystick.tv has more, but still less than half, of the rooms with gamer girls actually involving in games while they chat.
If you want to chat to a cam girl, preferably nude and wearing a Lush, while she plays a game then you are going to have an easier time on joystick.tv.
Inside the cheat rooms there is a split between guys who want the girl to just strip and start the sex, while others want to talk games, be that D&D, or a FPS.
That is an inherent conflict at gamer-girl sites. Is it a place to talk about games? Or is it a place to have virtual sex with a gamer-girl?
As the people who want sex are the ones who are going to pay, you can guess which way this goes.
The difference with other sites is that when nobody is paying, tipping, then the conversation is most likely to wander to gamer topics rather than talking about the weather or sports or whatever.
Which site has more girls actually gaming? It varies by time of the day but generally it is just a handful, less than 5, on each site. Neither has an advantage here so I’m calling it a tie.
Winner: Tie
Furries, Puppy Play, and more
The gamer girl community overlaps with other fantasy and role-play communities, such as furries and puppy play fans. Both Eplay.com and Joystick.tv cater to these communities, with some streamers incorporating these elements into their online feeds.
If you have an interest in fur or pup fursonas, you’ll find a non judgmental and welcoming environment on both platforms. THere is certainly more activity in Joystick.TV though.
Want to see an anthropomorphic wolf lift barbells while topless? Then Joystick is really the place you’ll go to find him.
And yes, him, because although I know girls can be furries as well I’ve not seen many, or indeed any.
But if you want to hang with people who find fur to be perfectly normal. Or who want to take it to the next level with realistic buttplugs, Skinsuits/morph suits, then Joystick.tv is definitely the place to be.
However, the you won’t find many of them. So it might take some exploring to find the perfect stream.
Winnier: Joystick.TV but only if you are ok with male streams
Guys vs Girls
And as noted above, plenty of them are guys. In fact I found more men to be seriously into broadcasting themselves in their fur or ani-personas.
If you want to talk specifically to females then ePlay has the edge, but for what I might call more “hardcore”, not in a sexual way but in terms of serious interest, then Joystick is your place.
Note that Joystick doesn’t let you filter your feed to see only females, so if pictures of hairy men makes your cock soft you’ll find that a problem.
On ePlay their are categories for Guys, Trans, Couples and so on. If you don’t select any of these, and they are mostly empty, then you are looking at women only.
Winner: ePlay, particularly if you men make you soft
Buying tokens
At some point if you are serious about playing at either site you will need to buy tokens to tip the models or engage in private shows. Both Eplay.com and Joystick.tv offer various packages for purchasing tokens.
Here is how it breaks down:
EPlay – Only allows paying by Credit card, the amounts are 25 Tokens for $5, Token 75 for $10 and so on. There are discounts for larger purchases with a 5% bonus at 200 tokens for $25 up to a maximum of 15% bonus for 900 Tokens at $100.
And of course that impractical “Invite friends and earn 50 free tokens!”
Joystick.TV – Lets you buy by credit card or by PayPal, which is then funded by credit card. Buy anything from 100 tokens for $11.99 through to 1,000 tokens for $84.99. Again this means a discount for larger purchases, but they are a lot clearer and more explicit about fees and cost per token.
Joystick gives you better options and a clearer interface, and that PayPal choice makes it a clear winner if you want to use PP. I also like the way they break out the fees and are generally clearer about the price per token.
Tokens at Joystick can be as cheap as 8 cents each, that’s competitive with the best rate at Chaturbate which you get with Wire or Crypto.
Sadly neither of them have any privacy-first payment options; you wont’ find paysafecard or crypto or even gift cards here, but they are both equally bad in this regard. If you’re looking for more discreet payment methods, you might have to consider other platforms.
What I do like though is that on both sites about 80% of the money then goes to me, or to whoever is broadcasting.
This is a really high percentage compared to other sites, so I’ll talk about this more later as there are some nuances. But first, from the buyers’ perspective I want to talk about privacy with what they do have, meanwhile:
Winner: Joystick.TV has better options though both work
Privacy: card statements
Eventually you will want to add some money to the system to pay a girl and if you use a credit card then it matters what they say.
- Joystick.tv says “This charge will appear on your credit card as joysticktv.”
- Eplay.com says “Purchase will discreetly show as ECHST.net”
Now “ECHST.net” is only mildly discreet, in that it takes just a few minutes of Googling to work out that this is a cam girl site, though you might think it is a different site that also uses this card processor.
Winner: Eplay, but only by a little
Chatting and video rooms
What is it like in the actual chat rooms?
Both of them are similar to each other, and to other cam girl sites, with a big video window and a text chat bar to the side.
ePlay is a bit more “normal” in that it looks more like other cam sites with a black background and plenty of space for the video. The chat is full of things like tip menus and there are plenty of icons for different things like cam2cam, tip targets, vibrations and gifts.
If you have caused any other cam site you’ll find this all very familiar and it doesn’t take much to click around and work out how it all functions.
Many of the rooms at ePlay let you type in the chat room, while some are marked “Buys only chat”. This means you need to have purchased tokens to participate in the chat. If your token balance goes to zero, you won’t be able to chat anymore, but you can still watch the stream.
Any number of tokens in your account is good enough to keep the chat open.
Either buy a minimum pack to get started, or simply click the Next button to find another model who has text chat open.
However as many cam girls will be split camming and broadcasting on multiple sites at the same time you won’t necessarily get a reply even in those rooms where you can type.
At Joystick.TV you are more likely to find a room where you will get a response.
Pretty much any room I can go into and say hi and the model or someone else will chat back. The catch is that it might be harder to find the right room for you, as the selection can be more limited compared to ePlay. However, the interaction feels more genuine and engaging once you’re in a chat.
The chat interface at Joystick is a bit more bare bones. TYes there is a toy menu, a tip menu, a spin the wheel if the model has activated it and so on. but overall the site feels a bit plain and basic in terms of styling.
If you have used Discord and are happy with that you are more likely to find Joystick ok, and that goes with them both having the same audience.
Joystick does have a few unique things that I have never seen before, Most useful are
Joystick.TV offers a unique feature where you can choose to display chat messages as either text or voice. This can be particularly useful if you prefer a more immersive experience or if you’re multitasking, like your hands are busy, and can’t keep your eyes on the chat.
This works mostly for me when I’m broadcasting, I don’t being able to listen for what people have typed is great if I’m looking away from the screen like when I’m in doggy position or something like that.
Generally being able to “listen” to what is going on in the room instead of reading is great whichever side you are. Works best with headphones though.
Broadcasting / Streaming
Want to broadcast here as well as watch? Or you are just looking for a place to broadcast while you game? Maybe you just want to hang out with gamers.
Well both of them offer great options and a pretty easy path. Not as easy as the old days of Chaturbate when you just cliekced “Brodcast” but still not hard.
You will have to go through ID verifications, we can’t have any people here who are too young and that’s right of course, but it does mean uploading ID is not optional.
On ePlay you scroll to the bottom and click the “become a streamer” button. It clearly walks you through the steps you will need, and there is online documents as well as chat with support to help you through the process.
On Joystick.tv, you can start by clicking the “Start streaming now” in the drop down menu to be taken to the onboarding process. It starts with ID verification of course, and while the process is simple it is a bit less clear initially what you need.
If you persevere and go through it all then it will be fine, but do allow time to get it done.
For myself I signed up with both and had only minor troubles, in both cases I was able to talk to support and get it fixed quickly. On ePlay it was via the in-web-page support chat, while On Joystick.tv, it was through their discord server. Both support teams were helpful and responsive, ensuring my issues were fixed right away.
Payouts for models
Now here is the big win for both of these sites. The payouts here are good, at least in percentage terms.
While at SC or CB I’m only being paid 50% of the amount spent by viewers, over at both ePlay and Joystick it is advertised as closer to 80%!
However 80% is only for subscriptions or content sales, and it depends on which plan you sign up for.
Tips and private shows are calculated differently and it isn’t as impressive.
At Joystick for tips you are getting either 5 and a half cents ($0.055) per token on the fixed plan, or on the variable plan getting from 3 to 10 cents dpending on the purchase price.
The payouts at ePlay are similary a bit less impressive when you read the fine print. You get 80% of the purchase price of the tokens, but with discounts and cupons that works out to be 7 cents each. And 80% of 7 cents is 5.6c so basically the same as Joystick.
Both sites still offer competitive rates compared to other camming platforms, but neither is better than the other.
What about other payout details? The payouts are twice a month at ePlay like most sites.
Over at Joystick they are “weekly”, but only after 30 days a bit like at Skyprivate. I guess they are waiting for any chargebacks first. So a big tipper today won’t hit your bank until 30 days plus up to a week.
There are a charges for payments as well:
Joystick Payout Options
Check ($50 min / $2 fee)
ACH ($100 min / $2 fee)
MassPay (currently unavailable)
Yoursafe ($100 min / $2 fee)
Wire ($400 min / $35 fee)
Joystick Wallet ($0 min / $0 fee)
Notice no Crypto here nor any Paxum at Joystick.
ePlay offers several payment options for models, including Wire (minimum $500, USA only), Check (not recommended for non-North American residents), Paxum, MassPay, and Cosmo Payment.
The higher minimum cut off for wire isn’t good, but free checks are good. The choice of Paxum, MassPay and Cosmo are good options for models broadcasting from around the world.
Personally I like ePlay better but if you are ok with one of the other options then that’s ok.
Winner: ePlay because of Paxum etc
Model chat controls
The controls are eplay are pretty standard with notes, muting, set moderator, set menus and so on.
Joystick on the other hand is again more basic, at least the user interface is quite simple. You can still do all the necessary things like settings goals, tip menus and the like. However I did find a lot more difficulty in finding the right part of the set to control some of the things I wanted to change.
For a model who has been used to another big modern cam site you’ll find ePlay easier to get started than Joystick, but ultimately they both work.
Winner: ePlay for an easier start
Overall
Having used both of them I’d say that as a model I’m enjoying Joystick more for the communty feel, but when I want to watch some hot girls I’ll find them on ePlay instead.
Winner: Joystick for models, ePlay for viewers
Alternatives
If you just want to watch gamer girls, or be a gamer girl, then the gamer section of a massive site might just work better for you.
Stripchat in particular has a dedicated gaming section where you can find cam girls who enjoy gaming. These platforms might not be as specialized as Eplay.com or Joystick.tv, but they offer a broader range of options and a more diverse group of both viewers and broadcasters.
