Camlust and SkyPrivate are not the only Skype Camgirl sites out there, but they are two where I have a broadcasting account so I get to see how they work in a bit more detail.

On the surface, the two sites are very similar.

Really really similar.

So much so that it seems that one of them is a clone of the other. In fact, that was what I was told once by a representative of one site. That the other site just stole their idea and there were legal proceedings, a lawsuit I presume.

The only thing is, I can’t remember nor tell which way around it was.

Is SkyPrivate a clone of CamLust? Or is CamLust a clone of SkyPrivate?

The camlust.com domain was created earlier, in 2009, vs Skyprivate which was first registered in 2012, but that isn’t completely conclusive. As I don’t think “camlust.com was really a cam girl site when it was first on the web.

Either way, the current situation is that they are both great places to meet up with girls who do cam shows on Skype, and as a go-between, they handle all the privacy and payment issues.

How many girls are online at CamLust vs Skyprivate?

Most of you are watching girls online, so although both sites do have different genders it is the “girls” section that interests us most. Even though I’m bi I generally prefer watching girls so that’s where I’ll be looking as well.

Today I checked on the sites at the same time to see how many were online. It is a bit hard to count accurately, and the number of models goes up and down by the second, but I did get some measurements. As you can see a massive difference in the number of women online.

  • Skyprivate: 518
  • Camlust: 35

If you want to see couples, guys or trannys then the situation is similar.

Camlust had no guys, three trannys and just two couples online.

At the same time Skyprivate had 36 men, 22 transgender and 31 couples ready for a show.

To put it another way, Skyprivate has more men online than Camlust has women.

Winner: SkyPrivate

At the same time Camlust does have enough women to make it interesting, so it is well worth trying out.

You may find me online there as I’ve been trying out the site as a model, and while it is a little quiet it is fun when people do chat to me there. And it has the big advantage that Skype is not the only choice for chatting, we can use the internal web messaging system for both text and video calls as well.

Creating accounts at Camlust vs Skyprivate

As a viewer you don’t need to create an account with either site before you use them, you can even find models you want to chat with, and buy credits to pay them, all without giving any information to either CamLust or Skyprivate.

It probably doesn’t make any sense to do it this way because you can set up favorites or keep in contact with the models via the site. Though if you end up doing shows with Skype then that is another way to contact them so the role of the skype camgirl site as an intermediary is less important.

The whole account-less way of dealing between model and viewer is great from a security point of view if you want as few people as possible to know about how you are spending your time and money.

When you do create an account the systems look very different though.

At Skyprivate there is a dashboard for you to manage your account, and that’s the focus. It guides you through the steps you need to take: Add funds, Choose a model, Add on Skype, Call her.

It feels all very professional and as though you are participating in their system. You can see models anytime you want by clicking on “See model profiles” which takes you to the front page of the site.

By comparison, when you sign up with Camlust you stay on the who-is-online page to see models all the time you are not actively fixing your profile, settings or messaging.

When you point with your mouse at a camgirl it goes into little 2 or 3-second animation that she has uploaded as a teaser. It isn’t that convenient as a model to add the teasers so I’m not sure how up-to-date they are, mine isn’t, but they do give you a feel for how that girl moves and not just how she looks in a studio photoshoot glamor image.

Tie: Skyprivate and Camlust both allow account-less use

Non-Skype chat at Skyprivate vs Camlust

Although both sites are based on Skype as the way to connect they do both have an alternative choice if you don’t want to literally use Skype for your video calls.

At SkyPrivate the alternative is Discord.

Many camgirls at Skyprivate list not only their Skype ID but also their Discord ID and they will chat with you and do a show for you using Discord. If you already have a discord account and use it for watching girls then may find this a good way to go.

As a Skyprivate camgirl you have to install software that plugs into your discord so that your calls can be timed and payments made. That means it has to be done on a PC, you can’t use your phone Discord app and have a pay-per-minute call as far as I can tell.

I have my own server on Discord where I post my pics and another one where I post links to my articles. There are plenty of other camgirls using Discord. It is a generational thing I think and you’ll find that many 20-something girls take it for granted that Discord is a thing.

Over at Camlust the alternative is the internal messaging system which is quite similar in style to using Skype, but is their own website technology. You get a text chat window with a list of recent chats along the side, and a camera icon to start a call.

The models at Camlust can set up how much they want to charge for text and video calls, but they can’t set it to absolute zero. As a viewer you have to have at least $1 in your account to be able to use the text chat, and video calls cost at least $1 a minute.

If a camgirl at camlust chooses to call you then that’s free, but this won’t happen in practice unless you have paid her some other way.

Remember this is not a dating site, but a paid sex-chat site.

Which one wins then? Discord video chat at Skyprivate or the Camlust Website video calling? It depends on who you are really because while the website video calling at Camlust works it is a little on the primitive side. Functional but just the basics. Discord is clearly the better technology, but if you don’t already use it the discord system is really confusing.

Overall a tie, but SkyPrivate wins if you already use Discord

If you already use Discord

Typical costs at SkyPrivat vs CamLust

At Camlust a “top shelf” model costs around $2.50 a minute for a Skype call, but there are also plenty of models who are at the minimum of $1.00 a minute. And that’s because they are getting at least 75% if not 80% of that money. As their costs are lower they can afford to charge much less.

The most expensive model I’ve seen on the first page charges $3.00, and that’s for some quite specialized stuff.

The prices for camlust models are shown right on their thumbnails on the home screen and it is easy to both see, or to choose by price.

At Skyprivate the prices are not shown so boldly on the home and you have to go into a search or visit each individual model’s page to see how much she charges. Unless that is she boasts about a cheap price in her profile thumbnail image as some do, boasting about $1 fees.

Other Skyprivate camgirls can charge 2 or 3 a minute, and if you only want to see discount girls you can use the filters to choose by price. The Skyprivate price filter goes for $1 to $12 and there are plenty of models in the higher price range.

Looking across the “top of the “Top models” sort I see prices that go $1, $2, $1, $2, $1.5, $1.99, $2.99 and so on.

Both of these sites, therefore, offer plenty of discount models, and at SkyPrivate you also can find some higher price point models if that’s your thing.

Winner: Skyprivate for the range, though both have discount models

Camlust vs Skyprivate for Models

As I signed up as a model for both sites around the same time I can say that I found the both similar and dissimilar.

On the one hand they are both so different from my regular camming sites such as Chaturbate and Stripchat, the fact that I’m not broadcasting live seems strange. Waiting for someone to come along and take me to a private show is a throwback for me to my first days as a camgirl at Friends and Cmacontacts where that was the only way. Before MFC invented tipping!

The part that is different is that I found the Skype plugin hard to organize for both sites, and difficult to get them to work together. In the end, I was happier using the CamLust system where the Skype plugin isn’t mandatory. I can simply login to the model account, set myself to Online, and wait for people to contact me either via the CamLust site or directly on Skype.

Most people just directly used Skype which is fine by me if they then pay for what they want using Camlust.

Although Camlust is many times smaller I did, in the end, have more fun on Camlust so I recommend you give it a try if you want to earn some more as a model. Particularly if you are happy to just leave the camlust site “online” in another window while you go about anything else you might be doing, including broadcasting on other sites.

Camlust also has a simple “feed” system making it a basic OnlyFans clone, but not as good as the LoyalFans combination of creator and camming.

CamLust vs Skyprivate for Webmasters

Want to earn some money by introducing new customers to either of these sites? They both have webmaster affiliate programs so that is perfectly possible.

The Affiliate program for Skyprivate.com is called WhaleHunter.cash, while the camlust.com affiliate program is lust.cash.
