Chaturbate plays catches-up with Gmail logins

Today Chaturbate, the largest tipping cam girl site on the internet, announces that they are adding a feature that several other cam sites have had for a while now.

Avoiding creating new accounts and remembering new passwords is something lots of people wish to do, and sign-in with an existing account such as GMail or social media is one way to do it.

Strictly speaking, this is a login with a Google Account, not Gmail.

But very few people have Google Accounts for any other reason than for accessing Gmail, and when you do create a google account for another reason they always try to get you to mail a matching Gmail and most people do.

Therefore Google Account = Gmail account for most people.

If you don’t mind Google knowing that you are a Chaturbate user then this is a great way to lower the barrier of entry for creating a new account at CB.

Not everybody likes this idea but for those who are ok with it then go with it.

The new sign-up process is not that clear because after using the Google button and selecting your Google account you still need to create your Chaturbate profile with username, birthday, gender, and agreeing to the T&Cs.

Notice it is not picking up your birthday from your Google account, even though Google knows it, you have to explicitly provide Chaturbate with your date of birth.

Once you give those details an account is immediately available to you.

There is no email verification, after all, you just gave over your Gmail address. You can change the email address in your profile settings, but by default, it picks up the address Google has for you.

Creating a Chaturbate account with your Gmail account doesn’t mean you can skip broadcaster verification to stream your cam though, that still is necessary if you want to do shows.

For viewers, or those who are content to use only Cam to cam for their broadcasts, then this is good enough.

What this is not is a new feature for a cam site. Many cam sites offer some type of login using your existing social accounts.
