I’m not really sure how new this is but it is news to me at least that Playboy, of Hugh Hefner, Playboy Mansions and “I only buy it for the articles” fame has finally come to the camming world.

It looks as though they only just started in 2024, so they are really late to the game. Their big rival Penthouse went in with a merger with Cams.com in 2007 though they split off in 2016. Now Penthouse run a “penthousecams” that is powered by Flirt4Free.

As for Playboy, I don’t recall them ever having been involved with live camming before, but they are now. At the main Playboy site there is now an “app” section that has a “Playboy Live” sub-section.

There are not a huge number of models online at Playboy. Click “Discover” and then “Live Now” to see your choices. I counted 23 thumbnails, but of those only 16 were actually live right now while the others appear to be scheduled. About a quarter of them have a “padlock” symbol meaning their video room is paid only, but the others are in free chat.

Free but it needed card verification before I could go in, I guess that might be for age verification, but it wasn’t too strict and a very basic online VISA card worked fine to get me in. Then I get full-screen video, text chat and clear audio with those girls who are in public.

This isn’t CB or SC and there is not a lot of sex going on, but there is friendly chatting and there is a tipping option that works.

Unusually for a cam girl site the tipping is just priced directly in money, not “tokens” or credits. The only other major site like that is Streamate I think.

It does take away some of the hassle, but it also means your tips are going straight to your card. You have to look out for budgeting yourself!

And watch out for the “Processing fee” – I think that would be the Stripe.com fee, which is strange given that I wouldn’t have expected Stripe to work with an adult site. But I guess Playboy is about as mainstream as it gets in porn.

If you want to be a model at Playboy.com there the deal is very similar to OF I’m told. The percentage the company takes is 20%, which is very low, and will pay with wire or cheque.

Given that the Playboy brand is so well established, if a little old-fashioned, I’d say they do have a chance to get big. But so far that hasn’t happened.

That means you might have a chance to get in on the ground floor of a new successful cam site! You will have to be the right sort of model that people expect from “Playboy” I suspect, so that probably excludes me. However, I’ll take a look at it and maybe who knows I could just become a Playboy Bunny! Wouldn’t that be funny?
