Just today I realized that I had not updated the “copyright” date in the footer of this site, it still said “2002-20022” which, while an impressive milestone, was out of date as I write in March 2024.

As I sat down to update the footer of this old website, I was hit with a wave of nostalgia. Has it really been 22 long years since I first hit “publish” on the first version of this FAQ? I can’t believe how time has flown. I remember the early days, setting up the site with all the excitement, and a bit of confusion, as I moved the one-page faq document I had posted to some free hosting site onto my own domain to an actual website with navigation, menus and sidebars. It was all done with Microsoft FrontPage back at that time, which despite the hate it got was a perfectly good basic HTML editor for my needs.

The world was a very different place back then.

I had been working as a camgirl for a few years then, and it was an industry that was still in its infancy. My first broadcasts were on iFriends.net, a site that has now retired.

Back then, we didn’t have the luxury of high-speed internet or advanced video technology. We made do with dial-up connections and grainy webcams. But despite the challenges, there was something magical about being able to connect with people from all over the world, in real-time, through the power of the internet.

I had some great chats then, and used the very few sex toys we had. I recall one vibrator and one dildo, and that was it! I still have that dildo, though sadly the vibrator stopped working many years ago, due to overuse I presume!

Looking back, it’s amazing to see how much the camgirl business has evolved. We’ve gone from grainy webcams to high-definition streaming, from text chats to interactive shows, and from a niche industry to a mainstream phenomenon. And it’s not just the technology that’s changed. The attitudes towards sex work have shifted too, with more acceptance and recognition of the skills and labor involved.

The payment side has all changes as well, that first site I worked on was a pure private show site with no free video, and no tipping, that all came a lot later. Now offering premium content and user-contributed tips is what is expected, but at that time just the video and text chat was good enough. Today only CamContacts still maintains the old way of doing business.

But it’s not just the camgirl business that’s changed. The world has moved on too. We’ve seen the rise and fall of social media platforms, the election of presidents, and the devastating impact of pandemics. And through it all, this little website has been a constant presence in my life.

There have been times were it hasn’t got much attention as I spent more time with my family, but I’ve never completely forgotten it and now am back to keeping it up to date.

So as I update the copyright notice to reflect the current year, I can’t help but feel a sense of pride and accomplishment. It’s a reminder of how far I’ve come, and how much I’ve grown. And it’s a reminder that no matter how fast time flies, we can always take a moment to look back and appreciate the journey.

Share your experiences about the passing of time and how quickly it seems to go by. Describe moments as a camgirl or a cam viewer that stand out as particularly memorable, despite the seemingly endless flow of time.

What were you doing 22 years ago? Were you even born! A lot of camgirls are younger than that.

Let me know in the comments what your first camming memories are like!
