Remember camgirls on your Sony Ericsson or BlackBerry?

Although some camgirl sites are older than others there are few that have escaped the (re)developers touch and so there isn’t much of the “good ol’ days” of camming around, but I just came across a little fragment of history that was too fascinating to resist.

Camcontacts is one of the oldest cam girl sites around and they were very early into the “modern technology” of internet-connected cellphones, as they were known then.

Do you remember GPRS? Or how about WAP?

All ways to connect to the fledgling internet from the funky phone that was just creeping onto the internet with a dinky little screen and a speed that would make you cry today.

Camcontacts mobile was a thing though and they implemented the WAP protocol for those basic phones that couldn’t load real internet websites using HTTP and written in HTML.

I recently came across a PDF document from Camcontacts.com explaining how to access their models on your “modern”, for 2006, WAP enabled phones from Nokia, Siemens or Sony Ericsson.

It is a great read and a blast from the past! But luckily the world, and cam contacts, has moved on.

What came after wap on a Nokia?

Why what else but handheld devices such as the PalmPilot and other “PDAs”. That’s why the mobile version of Camcontacts is to this day called “pda.” and not the more ubiquitous “m.”.

Today they have a great mobile site though they don’t have a mobile app as such
