Lots of stores and malls, including over 200 Walmart and Circle-K stores have ATMs that can convert cash to Bitcoins. To find the closest one use the ATM finder, which includes a map view at Coinatmradar.

Not in the USA? No worries, you can choose between 2,000 locations in Canada, 59 in Germany or 44 in Australia. Pretty much every country has some.

If there really isn’t an ATM near you, then you can do this online by hooking up with another person in your country who will do a bank transfer by going to localbitcoins, however, you will have to give that site some ID so it isn’t quite as anonymous.

For real anonymity make the effort and drive to an ATM.

Insert around $5 in cash into an ATM

These ATMs are a bit like a reverse ATMs. Instead of giving you cash that is drawn from your bank account, you give the machine banknotes and it sends money to your account. Only not a bank account, but a cryptocurrency account.

That account doesn’t have your name on it and lives only on your phone. I’m not recommending you use a crypto account at an “Exchange” such as Binance because they will ask you for ID.

Not every ATM takes $5, some will demand at least $10 but you can shop around to find one with a low limit.

As the guy in the video points out, you will need an App on your phone ready to accept the coins.

Install an App on your phone to receive the mony as “Bitcoin” or Cryptocurrency

Have your cryptocurrency account on an App on your phone. Use a well-known and reliable one that is reputable and has a good reputation. There are many to choose from but I go with BlueWallet, available both for iPhones and Android, but many people also like Trust Wallet.

Either one is fine, as long as the account is on your phone, not on their servers.

One downside of that is if you lose your phone then you’ll lose your money. But you are only going to put $5 into it anyway. Less than in your billfold probably.

The first time you open the app you’ll have to create an empty wallet.

Depending on the app you may have some way to back up your details, either saving to your cloud account or a set of words to write down on paper. Again, it is only $5 so the risk isn’t exactly high.

Get that done so you have a work empty wallet with zero balance.

Use the empty wallet to get the money from the ATM. Hit the “receive” button on your phone wallet and it will show a black and white pattern QR code.

That’s the code you show to the camera on the ATM.

Go online at Bongacams, and buy 40 tokens for about $2.50 of Bitcoin

When you choose the Buy Tokens button change the payment type from credit card to crypto.

The default type of currency is Bitcoin, which is fine as that is what you should have bought earlier at the store.

How many tokens you buy is up to you, but 40 is a minimum and a reasonable place to start. It should cost you around $2.50.

The price and rates vary from time to time.

Once you have set the amount hit the green Buy Tokens button.

That takes you to “coinpayments.net”, a third-party payment processor. Don’t worry though, they are not going to see your card info, won’t see anything personal about you, not even what you are doing at Bongacams. All they will know is that they are paid, and what account at Bongacams to send the tokens to.

Scan the payment code with your phone

The coinpayments screen looks like this and has a big black and white pattern square. That’s the QR code for payment that says where to send the money and how much.

You need to scan with the App on your phone to complete the payment.

Open up your cryptocurrency app and click the “Send” button.

Where it says “pay to” use the Scan or camera button to scan the payment QR Code.

This example is from BlueWallet, but every phone wallet looks similar.

Wait 20-30 minutes

Once you have submitted the transaction it ques to be processed by the bitcoin miners. You can use a website such as mempool.space to watch the queue and wait for your transaction to go through.

While it can take hours if the system is too busy, most of the time you’ll see it start to move in 10 minutes, and then Coinpayments will wait for two more confirmations before deciding the funds are good. Total of around 20 to 30 minutes, at which point Bongacams will show you that you have tokens now.

If this is the first time you’ve bought tokens, then it will bump you up from a free membership to a Gold Membership!
