On the net, we’re often reminded that what goes online, stays online. It’s a basic truth that we should all use to be cautious, as the idea of privacy becomes increasingly unstable. While I know we all tend to think of private chats, shows, and messages as offering a place for confidential exchanges, it isn’t always as private as we might think.

If I say something to you in a private message or show then at least you see it, and I can’t stop you telling someone else. We still try to be private, because privacy matters, especially when engaging in sensitive communications but what can be done to keep things more private?

As well as things that should never come out there are the things that were said, or typed, in haste, in anger, in passion, or just carelessly and we wish we could take them back.

Now Stripchat has stepped up with a new feature, that while pretty obvious when you think about it, isn’t at all common. In fact, I’ve not seen this done on any cam site before, though chat programs like WhatsApp have had it for a while…

Announcing Stripchat’s new feature: The power to delete sent messages from Private chats.

This works equally for models and viewers. Here is how it works if you broadcast as a cam model on Stripchat.

You can now erase those spur-of-the-moment texts that no longer represent your intentions or brand. Simply target the message in question, click on the three vertical dots, and choose to delete. And just like that the words are gone. Not just from your screen, but from the other side as well.

It does warn you that the deletion is for both sides.

This is different from some sites, for example, LoyalFans where you can delete private messages but you are only deleting your own copy. The other person can still the message even when you delete it for yourself.

A Stripchat your rights to delete is limited to your messages. The other person can delete theirs, and there is nothing to stop them from remembering or having recorded your words, but if they try to look back at the chat history all they will find are gaps.

While not perfect, it’s a good step towards giving you a chance to amend the digital transcript of your chat.

The idea is the same for the viewer, the private message chat program is symmetrical and viewers also get those three dots and a delete button.
