Skype has always been an attractive choice for camming. Everybody knows how to use it, the technology is robust and basically free for users. Skype-girl-camming has been a thing since the first girl did a nip-slip in a chat with her BF.

Today there is a range of sites that focus on organizing the Skype for the camming scene, being the directory and the middle-man between performers and viewers. LiveCamModels and CamLust are two I’ve reviewed, but there are others still to be looked at. These sites tend to handle billing and advertising but don’t do the heavy tech work of video streaming, which means they can charge less than regular cam girl sites.

Today SoulCams, which is about as regular a camgirl website as you can get, announced that they are working on integrating Skype into their offering. In what could be the first major overlap between independent Skype cam girl shows and website based privates they will offer a way to perform private shows using Skype.

Here is their full announcement:

New ways to broadcast

We understand, that our life is transforming and we spend more time in the virtual space. We also realise, that broadcasting on multiple channels is the key for success. Therefor [sic] we are proud to announce, that we are working on a very special project: we will be soon offering to host private shows on the Skype™ platform. We are in the final stages of testing and we will send more information once the feature is live. If you have questions about this new feature, do not hesitate to contact us.

Is this a valuable new trend, or is it putting too much reliance on a 3rd party video software which is owned by Microsoft?
