Teen Cam Girls vs MILF Cams: Cam Girl Age Popularity?

As you get older it starts to seem that everybody else is getting younger, and that is just as true for a webcam model as it is for anybody else. How does cam girl age affect popularity?

Women who are in their teens or early twenties seem to be the most popular.

Or at least that’s the conventional wisdom. But is it true for cam girls?

First of all, how old are webcam models or “cam girls” anyway?

To find out I’ve taken a look at a number of different cam sites, and each one is a little different though the patterns are overall similar. To make analysis easier I picked one large site that I’m familiar with, as I broadcast as a cam girl there, and used that data.

This data is from Chaturbate where I’ve watched the girls online for a long time in between, and sometimes at the same time as, broadcasting myself.

I’ve excluded models who don’t state their age, either leaving it blank or entering something like “99”. I’m guessing that the ones who entered 70s or 80s are also messing with our minds so they are excluded as well. That takes out about a third of the models listed and I realize that is a weakness in this analysis, but I have what I have.

Half of all cam girls are very young

Lets see what the numbers show.

About half are in the 18-22 age range, the lowest here because 18 is the lower legal limit on this site as on every other one I’ve seen.

I think by any measure the age range “18-22” can be considered very young. Most people of that age would agree they are young even if they may feel mentally mature.

It isn’t all girls just claiming to be 18 because they think there is some sort of benefit to advertising themselves as being as-young-as-possible. The peak age is actually 19 to 20.

It could be that girls of any age claim to be 18 when they first sign up, and then the website system automatically increments their age every year. However, this seems unlikely given the discrepancies in age distribution detailed below which should also be shifted if that were the case.

Stage ages are not always real

It is very likely that a lot of models give a “stage age” just as they have stage names, and this is allowed on Chaturbate as it is on many sites. Although you always have to prove your actual age with some government ID you can say what you like in your bio.

Cam girls don’t want to be 26 or “thirtysomething”

You can see a little of these in the unnatural distribution of ages and how they cluster around round numbers. A lot of people, cam girls or otherwise, would be happier to say they are “30” rather than “30something”. The round quarter-century at 25 probably has a similar boost and explains the otherwise puzzling lack of models who are 26.

All this says is that women would rather be younger, and will claim to be so if they have the chance. That’s the conventional view of the youth-obsessed culture, and it is undebatable that bodies are firmer and more visually attractive when young.

Does that equate to popularity or success as a webcam girl though? That is not so obvious but you can get some clue by looking at which models have more successful rooms, at least success in getting viewers into their rooms, which after all is a prerequisite to any other form of success in the long term.

After looking at many active rooms at Chaturbate you can see that the average number of users is higher in the rooms with younger models.

Live cam rooms with younger cam girls are more popular

Looking at this in more detail you can say yes, the rooms with younger webcam broadcasters are more popular on average.

It is even possible to fit a line through the sample, though with a rather poor fit. That does suggest that something else is going on here and visually it does look as though the ages and viewers fall into two clusters.

One cluster is teen cam girl through to mid 20s, and then everybody else in another.

Once you pass 25 things stay the same

Interestingly to me, who is quite close to the right edge of this chart, it is good to see that there is very little slope through this main body of interest. That means once you have past 25 things are about the same regardless of how old you get.

If you are 30 or if you are 50 then your chances of having viewers in your room is similar.

It isn’t quite so happy a view if you look at the absolute numbers on that Y axis though, a room with less than 30 viewers is not busy at all and not very satisfying in any regard whether just chatting, trying to build a fan base, or earning tokens.

Being more optimistic and looking at the maximum number of viewers in rooms against the model age shows a similar pattern, that here there are clearly two clusters.

This doesn’t need any highlighting to show that the massive rooms with many thousands of viewers is simply not something that is happening for models who are over their mid 20s.

You could say therefore that these large rooms broadcast by the younger models, which of course are skewing the averages in the previous charts, are not representative of the experience of the typical broadcaster.

Older models get just 64% of views of younger cam girls

The average number of viewers in the rooms of older models is lower, just 64% of the average for the younger models and the range is a lot lower as well with a lower maximum and a lower standard deviation.

A few individual models bring up the maximum, and hence the average and SD for certain ages, but on the whole things look pretty quiet for the older models.

If you are wondering about specifics of successful older models after seeing those spikes in the graph then see SweetndCrazy who is 33 years old can have a thousand plus viewers in her room, and also Sweetnameless who is 39 but approaches two thousand viewers.

I can’t help noticing that these two stand out older models are both named “Sweet” something. Is that the secret to success?! </joking>

Google’s View on Cam Girl Age

What does Google say about it, does it agree that teen cam girls are more popular than mature women on cam? It seems it does, though this also depends on where you look and how you express the idea.

There are various ways of expressing this, “girl” vs “milf” and so on but each way shows the younger models are ahead in interest.

Although this is generally true there are some variations across different parts of the world.

Here we can see that there is a larger interest in mature cam women in the United Kingdom compared to the USA, and that other countries seem to have no interest at all.

Different words to express this idea give similar results. For example “old cam girl” vs “young cam girl”. At first I thought it unlikely that anyone looking for an older webcam model would use the term “cam girl”, but apparently the term has become so generic it doesn’t on its own imply youth.

Conclusion

It seems clear that being a webcam model is both more popular and more desirable for younger models, with a quite clear division between the 18-25 age range and older models.

Younger cam girls are not only more common, but are more frequently sought after.

There is an interest in older women but this is mainly in the United Kingdom.

I need to examine this again using data from different websites, and also examining not just their age and how many people are in their room but other aspects like the number of tips or privates they get and what they are charging for different things.

A few very large rooms, which all have models under 26, tend to skew the averages and it would be good to look at this again examining only “typical” sizes rooms. Does excluding very large rooms from the analysis make a difference?

Finally, I should look for sites where “stage ages” are not allowed and have some more accurate age range information. This will help to avoid any skewing caused by models who choose either to not mention their age or give an obviously false figure as about a third of the Chaturbate models listed here do.
