Spread4u.comDelisted 26 Feb as transition to cams.com is complete. Update 23 Feb 2009 -- Spread4u has been purchased by the company who runs Cams.com, so expect them to basically merge. Hence everything below is probably not relevant any more. Read the Cams.com, review for more info. Below is the "old" spread4u review-- now there is a new version with more features not yet reviewed but briefly the new features they boast are:
The page looks slightly different once you have logged in. There are options like movies or toys which are third party shops that affiliate with Spread4u. But the main thing of course is the girls. There are two groups of girls: Nude chat costs about $1.99/minute. Private chat costs about $2.99/minute. It depends how possessive are you to the girl. Are you willing to pay $1/minute extra to kick out everybody else? You have to purchase credits before the pay chat. Minimum purchase is $25. Every time you buy credits, same value of "cam-points" are earned. e.g. you buy $25 credits and you will get 25 cam points. You can use these cam points to watch the feature shows, their way to reward the viewers. The girls who appear in the feature show have their own web sites and may be independent from Spread4u and the shows are simulcast to both Spread4u and their own sites. Credit card billing is done by ccBill or CommerceGate and will appear as "BDU Internet" on your credit card statement. Alternatively, you can pay with epassporte and even get 5% bonus. Voyeurs can pay $1.99/minute for voyeur mode nude chat and no one will know your existence. Extra options? Upgrade to be a V.I.P. in Spread4u at a cost of $19.95/month. Benefits?
I will say it's not that exciting unless you do spend at least $400 a month and you will be breakeven financially. Personally, I would rather they make your screen name bold in the chatroom so you will get more attention. On the other hand, Spread4u seems more international than other webcam chat sites. Most girls are European so they speak English, French, Italian and German. If you prefer to chat in your mother tongue then Spread4u definitely offers more choices. Other European language speaking webcam sites include PlaceOfPorn (Dutch and Eastern European). If you fancy Asian, maybe you should check out DxLive. DxLive has mostly Japanese although a small no. of girls don't speak English. CumTV has quite a lot of Asians too. I've been told that North American hosts get priority and get listed first -- which is perhaps good or bad depending upon who you are. Spread4u is very professionally with most girls being studio girls, but they do also accept individual performers if you are interested. The performer signup page is not that obvious but once you find it the instructions are very clear. Payout is $2/minute for privates and 50% for group chat. Karen, who posts in the forum, is the talent coordinator and says they try to process all requests within 48 hours. The video software is now Flash based -- I didn't notice when they changed, sometime in 2007 I think, but it looks exactly like the old one only completely stable so that's a big plus. In July 2004, Spread4u has launched this "Live webcam gallery". "Live webcam gallery" is basically a gallery of one of the girls who is online at the moment, so that if you like her, you know you can click through and chat with her immediately. Not a bad feature. In Nov 2004 spread4u starting to advertise a new video sizes: Double and Triple as well as audio in the free and nude chatrooms. Finally got to see this for myself in Jan 2005 and it works pretty nicely. Of course it is only blowing up the image, not really any clearer, but if you have a high resolution monitor or simply a small screen that can make the difference between a stamp and something you can see well! The largest video size is 1024 wide making it a bit larger than imlive's new enlarge option but similar. If you are logged in as a member then you can click on the link "Control Panel" which takes you to a set of options that lets you manage your favorites list, receive alerts by email when a model logs in, change your password or default handle, and transfer your balance between accounts. As of Feb 05 some chat features are also restricted to only logged in members -- specifically Whisper and Zoom Video. I guess that's a not unreasonable attempt to restrict the freeloaders. In 2008 the Whisper now specifically is a "VIP member only" function. Cam2cam functionality was added recently so you can show yourself to the models provided you have a webcam and download the required software. No extra charge for this and of course it's optional. You can find other details in the comments about Spread4u in the forum. The gay version with guys instead of girls is called Stroke4u. In the middle of 2005 they opened up a bunch of niche specific web sites which are basically all the same content, but focusing on one or more different type of model. They are www.allteenwebcams.com, www.girlongirlwebcams.com, www.hotasiancamgirls.com, www.hotebonycamgirls.com, www.hotlatinacamgirls.com and www.olderwomencams.com. Then later in Sep 05 they added chubbycamgirls, realmilfcams, bigtittycams and a guy site called buffcams.com. Most recently in Nov 05 we have GenderBenderCams for shemale webcams. The same company also owns CamClub which is a separate system more like ifriends or imlive in that it has "non adult" areas, and it requires a credit card -- to register.
