Delist dead site 29 Aug 2008. Now dead just showing hosts from state18.com which is itself another dead site, but a German one. And now finally goes to chaturbate. If you have found your dream girl in Playmate Shows, then it's great; otherwise, there are not many choices of girls online. 1 June 06: Summer promotions starting with PlayMateShows, from now until 10th of June you get 25% extra credits on every $100 purchase. 9 Sep: More Playmateshows stuff, this time another promotion: from the 12 Sep through 18th Sep every $100 you buy they throw in a free extra $60. All these promotions are a sensible idea for a new site, but is it actually working? Well it got me to mention them again so that's one thing -- and it looks as though a lot more traffic is going there. Not a huge number of models online though, just five as I write this; one in free chat, three in group and one in private. 6 Aug: PlaymateShows have a promotion coming up next week, if you are a member then from the 8th to the 14th August they are handing out $50 free credits for every $100 you buy. They also just completed a chathost competition, with a $300 bonus to the girl who was online most during the competition period. Simple and not so subtle way to encourage girls to hang around! Seems to have worked though. Maybe they should make it a regular thing. PlayMateShows is one of the newer sites, only launching last year (2004). When I first visited there had been nothing to see but now (mid 2005) it is building up quite rapidly. Despite the name it is "just" a regular cam site, there are no professional PlayMates (and I wonder if they will get into trouble with playboy as I would presume that "Playmate" is a registered trade mark). Still, my point is this is not porn stars or anything (ala Flirt4Free). They now have a hundred or more girls registered on their list, and there are profiles and some nice gallery pictures of each one. However not surprisingly for a new site they still don't have that many girls online. What it does have is a full set of features, there are ratings for the girls (you get to vote) and hence a top list of their "Top Hosts ". Today the top girl is "ExplosiveANGEL" who certainly has some nice and kinky -- but in the best possible taste -- gallery pics of herself online. Fishnets and tartan skirts, that sort of thing. The pics are rather small unfortunately and the whole user interface -- even the galleries -- is done in Flash which can be a bit clumsy at times. The girls seem to be a mix of independent and studio girls Choose an online girl you want to chat with and click her picture in the who is online display to get into chat. You will need a free account to get into it though -- just username and password and email account will do.
Pricing depends on the type of chat you choose: There is entirely free chat, but not many girls are in that area. Then there is VoyuerChat where you just watch is $0.96 a minute, while the group chat (gang chat) is $1.96. This is a similar pricing you'll find the cheapest imlive or ifriends girls or the medium range camcontacts girls. True private with just you and her, and then two way cam is included if you have a cam when you are in actual private, that costs you $2.96 -- almost three dollars a minute. Still a bargain compared to some of the higher paid girls on flirt4free or cumtv though. I did find a lot of beggars in the free chat though, which I guess is common but a bit annoying. The chat I went into with "Enigma" was ultimately a bit boring because all I really saw was her slagging off the beggars. Another feature they are using to help deal with the lack of girls problem is a very good schedule screen that allows you to see, in time converted to your local timezone, when girls are planning to be online. Of course there is no guarantee that they actually will be -- but it helps and I particularly like the time zone flexibility so no more mental conversions to PST or EST. Like the rest of the site the cam2cam feature is powered by Flash so it should work on most computers if you have a modern version of Windows installed. Actually the technology behind this site is "JamOnCam" which is one of the new webcam software out there. A few sites are now starting to use this. In the chat window you get some additional things like "My Net Speed" which is a bar chart to tell you how your connection is doing. A "Tip model" box which allows you to put a dollar or a few dollars into her cup. There is a large screen button but that doesn't do very much, just expands but makes the pic fuzzy. The video itself is flash and smooth -- there is sound and it was loud and I got feedback loops or something so I turned that off on my PC (the sound off tick box on the screen didn't work). They are inviting webmasters, studio bosses and independent chathosts all to join. As they are new they are sensibly offering a reasonable deal on payments. The share is 40% for single models, 45 % for studios , twice per month, via western union, wire transfer or debit card ( Funds2Go). So that's not quite as good as ifriends (50% for the models) but a lot better than Imlive who constantly seem to be dropping their model pay rates and are down to 35% now I think.
