Dead site 26 Aug 2008 MoonLightFriendsA rather dull grey background hides a nice new site which is doing very well considering it has been around less than six months. At the moment there are 5 girls on line offering free chat. Just click the "Free Chat" button on the Live Models page and it loads a "viperchat" screen -- I'm told this is the product "webvideo" from the same people who make camsplitter. It is java based and it sure works very smoothly and gives a nice interface with clear and pretty smooth video. Another site using this software is Sexxxcamslive. Every 30 seconds or so in free chat the screen changes to a "login in - it's free" banner for a second. There is the usual gallery and bio buttons -- and some of the galleries (but not all) are nice real pics, not webcam shots, which is a nice change. The tiny number in the top left of the screen is the frames per second -- I'm getting 6 or more with some girls which is the best smooth video I've seen other than amsterdamlive -- of course not all girls have good enough connection to get that frame rate though, some are only 2 or so. The girls in free chat are all in bra-and-panty type outfits; there are buttons below the video to take the girls into topless , nude, VIP or Voyeur -- each for different prices. Topless ranged from .99 to 1.99 and VIP from 3.99 to 4.99. Signing up is really free, just need to give the usual email address to receive an activation code. Below the viperchat screen there is a bold link for "Complain Resolution" -- by which they mean resolution of complaints -- which shows both that the webmasters are not native speakers of English and also that they are concerned that their customers are happy; not hiding away contact/complaint details the way some sites do in the small print somewhere. However in their FAQ they do explain that they do not accept any chargebacks to credit card payments -- they will credit you credits on their system, but won't give you the money back and threaten to share your name on a "black list" with other adult websites if you do chargeback. This is an empty threat as no such blacklist exists and charge backs are perfectly valid from the point of view of the credit card companies. What is really happening here is that the web site gets penalized by the card companies if there are too many charge backs, so they are really anxious to stop you doing it. An unusual feature they have is a downloadable "ViperCam Notifier" which will run on your PC and inform you when your "favorites" are on-line. I tried it but couldn't get it to work myself though I didn't try that hard. It does have an "uninstall" if you don't like it. Signing up as a performer is the usual thing -- they do include geographic blocking like iFriends so you can stop people in your neighborhood seeing you, but they also note it isn't perfect -- only 90% they say -- which I think is more realistic and honest than claiming it is perfect. The performer rules are pretty strict, but in a sense quite reasonable. They for example do not permit the "operator" or "typist" approach where one person types and the other is on cam. Also they do not permit working multiple sites because they are promoting themselves as "girls you don't see elsewhere". Moonlight Friends doesn't look "studio friendly" to me -- which may be a positive both for the independent girls and viewers who are tired of studios. If you have any more information about Moonlight Friends, please drop me a note in the webcam forum, thanks.
