Moderators are a common feature of cam girl sites. Moderators, or “mods,” are the quiet assistants who work behind the scenes in a cam girl chat room to make things work smoothly. The best mods work hard to make sure everyone in the room, including the model and the viewers, has a good time and feels safe. Moderators are in charge of making sure people follow the rules, getting rid of mean comments, and kicking out users who don’t behave.

Moderators are important for a few reasons. First, they help keep the chatroom a happy and friendly place. When someone says something rude, inappropriate or just mean a mod can jump in and delete the words. Possibly even before the camgirl reads them. That way she can focus on their performance without feeling upset or worried.

Every cam girl wants her room to feel a sense of community, it helps with making people comfortable and creating regulars which is a key to both income and brand development A good moderator helps to keep that community on track, mostly by silencing or kicking incomers who are not feeling the right vibe of the room.

Where do moderators come from? A few people are like “professional moderators” who go around asking models, particularly new ones, if they can mod in her room. That can be a bit creepy and pushy, but the best mods are usually viewers who have been around for a while and have become friends with the model and other regular viewers.

This means they understand what’s going on in the room and can handle any problems that come up. By making everyone feel welcome, moderators encourage viewers to keep coming back and supporting the model.

Generally, I feel that cam sites that let us choose moderators, like Chaturbate and SC, are better than those that don’t. When we can pick moderators we choose people we are comfortable with, who clearly like us enough to want our online experience to go smoothly. This is really important for models who want to create a specific mood in their chatrooms and make sure their rules are respected.

For example, I don’t want to talk about my personal physical location, so questions about my country, my ethnicity, and such are really off-limits for me. When people ask anyway, then I need to ask them to stop. A moderator can do that for me and let me focus on what else I’m doing.

Check out this video for a good view of what a moderator is and why cam girls have them.

Not all cam sites have the moderator feature, and those that do may call it different things. Here is my current list.

So which sites do NOT have a moderator function? Some of the older and bigger sites do not have any moderator function as far as I can tell (I don’t have a model a/c at all of these so it is just my observation).

No moderators at:

  • Streamate
  • MyFreeCams
  • LiveJasmin
  • I’mlive

Note that some of these do have a people called moderators, but they are internal staff, like an admin, who keep things in line and not the volunteer-viewer-moderators which is what most of us (at least from a CB/SC model perspective) consider a moderator.

Want to be a moderator? Check out the sites listed above. But remember it may take a while to find a model who wants a moderator, don’t push yourself onto someone who isn’t comfortable with it. Building trust and showing genuine support in the community can go a long way.

Are you a broadcaster starting to build a following on Chaturbate or Streamate? Both of these platforms allow cam girls to assign moderators (or Knights), making it easier to manage your room and keep the atmosphere positive. Make sure to get to know your regular viewers and consider promoting those who are supportive and respectful.

Have I left any out? Let me know in the comments and I’ll get this list updated!
