November 2005 Adult Webcam News
26 Nov: Camcontacts have a nice but rarely updated "newsletter" -- but they've done a new issue for their 5th Birthday party. [Read it here] 25 Nov: PrivateFeeds have had a graphic overhaul, getting away from the black backdrop they used before. Now it's light and airy and rather easier on the eyes. Watch out if you running at less than 1024x768 or if some of your screen real-estate is taken up by toolbars though; the new way they have laid out the page (with iframes) doesn't take kindly to that and you get some irritating scroll bars. I've no doubt they'll fix that though as it's quite obvious. The gay site (Male PrivateFeeds) is still using the old colors though [read review] [visit site] [make a comment] 24 Nov: No prizes for correctly predicting that Imlive is having a Thanksgiving Party -- this is particularly a Thanksgiving FOOD party -- so if you like your play with some calories and a bit of mess this one is for you. Runs from now until Monday morning. [join the party] 19 Nov: ExtasyCams is boasting about a lot of new hosts joining in an email they just sent out, at the moment I'm seeing about 30 online so that's certainly some growth but not yet huge (compare with 160 at cumtv or 450 at camcontacts). But ExtasyCams still stands out with their low prices, free minute give-aways and an interesting statement in their latest email "[our new models] are beginners into adult videochat market, you may experience some inappropiate behaviour from some of our newest models. Please accept our appologies in advance." (sic). [read review] [visit site] [make a comment] 15 Nov: Updated the CamTrue review with a few more details. Today they announced a new model would be on at a set time "10 am - 2 pm", but sadly didn't mention what timezone this was in. More usefully they announced a limited time bonus credit scheme -- 25% extra for purchases of $80. One thing I noticed is that supports multi languages; even Arabic and Chinese! Now all you have to do is find a host who understands one of those languages. For simpler European languages don't forget Imlive's international sites. As they keep sending out promo codes for free 1 or 2 minutes at a time, and that's even for non-paying customers -- the paying customers get larger awards, it's well worth signing up. Thirteen girls online right now, about two thirds in studios it appears. Fine print is - "*$6 valid for first time users only, will be available for the first 4 hours after joining and can only be used in the adult oriented areas of ImLive." I read that this offer ends Friday so if you want to try it, don't be late! LiveJasmin has one for top hosts and for top viewers; Imlive is adding a reviews-by-viewers feature to its existing voting, and Camcontacts has a 5th Anniversary chat host vote. Creating a "fair" voting system is not easy (try asking the United Nations or Jimmy Carter), should everybody be allowed to vote? Only paying viewers? One vote person or one vote per show they watch? Etc etc. Bottom line is that though the "top" hosts on any site are liable to be great, it doesn't mean that other hosts can't be equally great too -- so widen your net and take a look at a host you haven't seen before! 2 Nov: Growing pains over at camtrue it seem, they are informing people of a shutdown starting tomorrow for an unstated time to upgrade their systems in support of new features they have added. |
