Rude.comadult social networking community It takes a bit of digging around to really understand what Rude is all about, as a one-stop-shop for the exhibitionist / entrepreneur who wants to not only do webcam shows, but also sell pictures and videos Rude.com ends up having some many options it is hard to navigate at times.
When rude.com was first mentioned in the forum I was a bit skeptical because of an apparent emphasis on community/hobby webcamming. Which while a fine activity in itself rarely leads to good shows (which viewers want) or income (which chathosts want). However since then it has developed a lot and many people are satisfied customers, on both sides of the cam. They also have a huge amount of visitors -- while only 10% of livejasmin or imlive it is still much more than the majority of new cam sites out there. One thing that still concerns me though is that it is absolutely covered in ads, mostly for the fling.com dating site or penis enlargement drugs, which implies that they need to sell ad space to stay in business. That's a big contrast to most cam sites which try to keep all visitors to themselves because they are being profitable. So anyway if you can ignore the many banners at the side of the screen and the constant annoying fake-IM pop-ups promoting Fling.com then you can try to see what rude.com itself has to offer. Or if you are already confused you can join as a VIP member -- from a $1/1-day trial through to a $60/3-month deal -- and that gets ride of all (or most) of the ads. Watch out for that $1 trial though, because it gets automatically turned into a $35/month recurring charge -- whereas if you had chosen a 3-month instead it is only $20/month, a much better deal. One major area is "your" (as a member) page -- which is a bit like a MySpace page. Here are some that belong to our forum members here:
As a viewer it gives you a great, if at times confusing, overview of what a chathost has on offer. From live video, recorded video to voyeur house cams, to special offers. Plus plenty of community and shout back type stuff where other members comment on what is going on. But click around and I keep seeming to end up on pages that say "Coming soon" -- which I think is inappropriate for such a major site, it's been 10 years since it was normal to say "Under construction" on a website! As I try to navigate around this site I am frequently getting confused; here is an example. On what appears to be the main menu I choose "Live Cams" -- but instead of seeing a who is online page as I might expect I end up with categories or "Channels" such as "Live GROUP Shows" and "Live PRIVATE Shows", which is ok, but then another one is "LiveJasmin.com", another is "Rude Virtual World" -- which is a sort of 3D chat software with avatars run by another company called Utherverse.com -- and then "Rude DATING Live " except that one is "coming soon". Ok so instead I take the option Rude TV which does work, but is hardly Live Cams -- it's more like cable porn tv. Not porn movies, but things about porn or interviews with porn stars and so on. So back to the Live Private shows -- and yes this is more like it, it's the same content I later realize which is previewed on the home page, and is also available in a cleaner view from RudeShows.com. Now as well as Privates there are also "Sponsored shows" means a scheduled show -- a group chat -- a bit like a livecamnetworks one (but more regular) and you don't have to pay because one of the Rude.com advertising sponsors is paying the chathost/model/star!
Anyway do the math and it costs $3.50/minute for private chat -- that's just the regular, no "specialty show", no cam2cam ("2 way A/V" ), no phone, no snapshots saved to your account. I'd call that medium high pricing. And for a specialty show -- which one host told me meant "weird shit that I'm sure I wouldn't do" -- the cost goes up to almost $5/minute - that's in flirt4free price range. ...More to come here If you have any more information about Rude.com, please drop me a note in the webcam forum, thanks. |
