Naked.com

Despite only really having gotten started in Oct of 2007 Naked.com is already one of the busiest webcam chat sites out there, so I thought it was time I reviewed it.

One of the things that made me hold off before on writing a review is a lot of problems reported in the forum, much of which sounded like start up confusions so I thought I'd let all that die down - and anyway, I rarely review sites when they are brand new as there is nothing to see.

Now though there is plenty to see at Naked Com with about a hundred models online.  This is not LiveJasmin, imLive or even camcontacts territory but it is a decent size for a year old site.  The hosts are split up into a few simple categories such as White, Latina, Big-Tits and so on.  It doesn't seem very comprehensive; for example I didn't see any couple section but there were some couple and even triple girl chatrooms going.  In fact one named Tina Marie was so good, both in terms of video quality and the good attitude of the three hosts, that I thought at first it was a recording.

One interesting little thing about their otherwise typical "who is online" thumbnail page is that if you wait a few seconds after it loads the profile pictures start to be updated with a little animated view which shows -- hopefully - what the live host is actually doing now.  It isn't live video as you get on the Camz whoislive page but it is close enough to give you a real good impression of what is in that room -- the hosts outfit and so on.  That all depends on the host keeping it updated of course though, most were but a few I checked were not.

 Anyway once you have clicked through you are in a typical flash based video chat with a zoom and sound control for hosts who have a mic, which most seem to.  You can't text chat though without registering, though you can see other people chatting.

That does keep the beggars down a bit and given that this is a very busy site -- in terms of traffic -- it makes sense to keep the unregistered out of the text chatrooms.

Now here's an unusual thing -- there is a Spanish to English translation button, most useful in the Latina area of course, but it auto translates each phrase that anybody types.  As with any machine translation this can get quite funny at times, particularly as people are not typing full words properly so the translator really hasn't a hope.  Still I guess it is something worth trying if your fav is spanish and you don't speak the lingo.

You get lines like:

Spider?  Spider??? 

If you are a chathost and want to work on naked.com it seems it is not so easy, yes they have a signup form but the word in the forum is that it takes a long time (if ever) to get processed.

However there are a lot of middle men - studio bosses or master account holders - who can sign you up, but of course take a cut or in fact who may or may not ever pay you.  Search the forum and you'll find lots of horror stories.  So I'd say try very hard to work directly from naked.com rather than through an intermediary if you can.  Start here to register: webcamstaffing.com
