true, but it also can give that "small town" feeling where you know all the girls if the business is sustainable (most small businesses fail in their first two years either from lack of capital or bad management)

Or from lack of skills. I'm still amazed at the number of small sites that can even do basic design or publicity for themselves.

Writing a basic Press Release is something you can do in a day with guidance from a book out of the public library. But I've yet to see one from 99% of the sites I've worked with.

thats part of bad management, as for press releases, most companies dont do them because the media doesnt care for the most part

creative did a press release about it acquisition of sensaura (now creative labs is effectively a monopoly), but only those in the IT industry know about it

It's the job of the person writing the press release to make it interesting enough to publish; that means different releases for different target audiences.

If the release does not make 'news' then it isn't a good PR.
