I was just wondering what those of you out there who work full time camming tell people you do for a living?
I suppose those who have other "normal" jobs would probably just say that, but what about the others?
Do you make up a fictional job, do you avoid the subject, do you tell them the truth?
I'm sure that there are some who have no problem telling friends or even family members but I'm just wondering how common that is. And let's say you go out to a bar and are making small talk with someone, a stranger, and they ask what you do for a living.. do you bring it up?
I would personally rather tell everyone the truth, as I'm a terrible liar and thus hate doing it, and because I feel no shame in what I do, but at the same time I would rather not be judged unfairly by those who are more conservative and less understanding.
So what about you? |

I haven't been doing it that long.. but apart from my best friend and my husband, nobody knows. I wouldn't care that much about most people finding out, but I would be mortified if my parents did.
Everyone still thinks I'm working at my old job in I.T. |

I was beginning to think that no one would reply.
I guess I'm not sure what to do. I've just moved to a new city and haven't gotten a job, and now am just trying to see how well I can do with camming. Thing is.. I'm sick of people constantly asking me, "So, do you have a job yet?" and constantly having to answer 'no'. I feel like a bum! In truth.. I suppose I am a bit of a bum.. but I don't mind that. ha
I'm just not sure if I want to tell my family back home that I have a fake job.. so they won't keep wondering how I'm surviving on no income. |

You could tell them you got a job working from home
Some call centers let you work from home- they give you software to put on your pc, and you can log in from home. it's still a lie, but slightly closer to the truth.
I feel bad about lying too, but at the end of the day it's my life and I'm doing what I have to do to get by.
I had a brilliant day on AW today. I earned a lot of money for doing very little, and I managed to have a nap this afternoon. It's days like this that make it all worth it. |

Tell them you are working from home making money online. Tell them you are an affiliate marketer. I take part in some camsites' affiliate/webmaster program and I can make some nice money there, and those people who do this are affiliate marketers, too, just like those who sell nonadult things like e-books or those who are affiliate marketers of ebay or amazon. It's technically the same.
I tell my parents and friends exactly this, I'm an affiliate marketer, and it's true |

| Good answer. And sign up for the Amazon affiliate program as well, then you can tell people about that and try to sell them some books. They will soon stop asking for details! |

| What I actually say is "internet marketing", then if they ask more details I tell them about adsense and hotel affiliate programs which I do in fact also do. |

I tell them straight what I do. I am more happy that I have a pay check coming in every week then not having one.
if they want to stick up their noses and judge me that is thier problem. I still got bills to pay whatever they think. |

It's not about being brave. its really about self confidence of course there is some situations where you dont want to say anything,
and you basically say you do sales as your job since that is what you do sales
sales ,customer service, marketing, or just leave it at self employed. |
