Ok,

I've been asked whether I want to run my own studio based on the cam2chat site. It seems fairly straightforward, but being a paranoid person, there's a few things that worry me. Has anyone else experience of setting something like this up from the UK?

1st - The legal side. As a UK citizen, living in the UK, I'm obviously subject to tax laws etc.
2nd - Money - Reading the site, the only option available to me right now is the Bank/Wire Transfer option. However, this one sees a penalty applied in bank charges. The other options are Smart Card or Epassporte, neither of which I have.
3rd - How easy is it to really set this all up, and not run into big headaches in the future?

who exactly is asking you?? lol

Secondly, cam2chat.com features only asian cam models. Call me crazy but to set up a studio you would need several asian cam models no? do you have them? Are you tryng to set up a virtual studio or are you renting a physical location?

You really need to be more specific.

Also - getting an epassporte account set up is very easy. However it makes me wonder if youre asking for help with that, then oh my how on earth are you going to run a studio??

I cannot answer to legal issues in UK, we are based in US, but setting up a studio is pretty easy. Get several computers with a high speed internet, good quality video set up and profesional lighting. You can get that on amazon.com (the lighting)

the biggest problem you will run into is lack of reliable models to keep the studio running and paying the bills.
You need to do a search, in your area, how many potential models would answer to your add .
How much time are they willing to put in.

Epassporte is easy to set up and great tool to pay studios/models.

I'll tackle the questions

1 - Yes, I was asked by a friend. She works from her own home, and is looking for help. I think it's so that she has a support mechanism for herself.

2 - Yes, I'm aware of the asian market. I've "got" 3 names so far and would be setting up a strictly virtual operation.

3 - I've never encountered Epassporte before. It seems to be directed at US people, rather the European market.

I'm not looking to make a lot of money, It's more of supporting friends. (and yes, I know about mixing business & friendship), that's why I came here, looking for advice.

as far as epassporte goes it doesn't matter where you live, you set up the account and they deliver your VISA to the mailing address you specify.

We have set up accounts all over the world for our affiliates and never had an issue.

Im still not sure why your friend would want this-

Given the option of working alone or under a studio most models choose to work on thier own. Why would she want or be willing to give you a % of her pay? What exactly would you be doing for her that she cannot do herself??

Yes there are models that work under virtual studios. But thats because the people that run them have tremendous experience. They offer mentoring and help setting things up. They know the business inside and out. How to promote the model properly. The models that do this consider it a small fee from thier earnings to get those benefits. And most, when they do become established leave said studios...

You have no experience. I dont know how much support youd be able to offer her.
