What am I doing wrong?

Hey all. I've been camming a week now and I love it .. but what's driving me crazy is the ratio of guys who go private with me from free video chat. I mostly get guys wanting to sit in my room all day and chat, tell me how hot I am .. some of them jsut sit there and masturbate to my face and of course I don't know it until they say "Mmm you just made me cum!"

I am certain some chat hosts will be more helpful and enlightening on this subject, but maybe it might also be helpful to you to see things from a member's point of view.

First thing to say is the free chat "beggars" and "wankers" are, unfortunately, a necessary evil of this work, especially on sites which allow anonymous guests access to free chats. If you are working on such a site, sadly they will always be present Don't let them ruin your mood, because many members can sense this and they might not want to go private because they will feel the private experience will be lessened. Many of the best performers go tit-for-tat with the rude ones or the ones who are looking for a free wank. Have a little fun with some of them One thing that is a big turn-on for me and many members is seeing a performer with a sense of humor.

I am happy to see a new performer who feels she doesn't need to "show all" to get a private. I know I might be in the minority here, but I usually will not go to private with a performer who thinks it necessary to do whatever it takes to get a private. And from my experiences, many of the ones who tend to show in free chat spend quite a bit of time there. The guys, guests and members alike, will test the limits and they will figure if they see one thing, why not ask to see something else. Even when some of those performers go to private, they tend to be on the quicker side.

There was one particular performer I saw exclusively for more than a year. Her privates average approximately 45 minutes and she has privates as long as four and five hours on a regular basis. And she rarely shows much in free chat. From what I have witnessed personally and have been told from certain performers, the ones who tend to do the best have a VERY loyal group of members who visit them regularly and exclusively. My advice here would be, provide the ones who do go private with an enjoyable experience that leaves them curious and wanting to come back for more.

And what will keep them coming back is recognizing them and engaging them during free chats on future visits (many performers will keep notes to help out here). Nothing makes a member feel better than when a performer remembers them after a private.

It can take several weeks, evens month before you start seeing things pick up in terms of private time. Things being a bit slow in your first week is not something out of the norm. I know some performers who have been doing this for years, and they still have those days where they find themselves in free chat more than in private. My advice, if you do enjoy the experience, be patient and I'm sure things will pick up soon.

Hey Beauty! You are not doing anything wrong - all cam sites have beggars and guys who just want to sit around and chat without spending. Try to remember that it is your paying customers who are supporting you and that's where you need to focus your energy. You don't have to be mean to guys who sit around for free all day but you certainly don't have to jump to answer their requests and questions as fast as you can either, and a little lighthearted teasing of this kind of behavior can either nudge them toward buying, or earn you the respect of some other chatters in your room who are more likely to buy.

Also since you are new...it usually takes awhile to build up a group of regulars on any site. CaliGuy is right on when he says the best thing you can do is provide an excellent experience for those who DO pay, and don't let the beggars get to you, you truly don't owe them anything. I'm on a 3 strike policy - if someone begs me 3 times to do something naked in freechat, or makes a ton of requests, or tries to cybersex with them they get 3 no's/explanations of the rules and after that, fair game to use my block/ban button, my babysitting days are long behind me!

I've kinda cut down on camsites I'm on, especially the ones I've HAD to do freechat on and went more with the ones that convert better in addition to starting up my own independent platform.

What guys before me told you is absolutely true. BTW try to pick sites where there is no freechat, or if you are in free chat, don't talk that much to guys in free. I've been contemplating the same kind of thing recently.. like today I didn't get any privates at all and it was quite disappointing. I feel like its just a balance when you do free chat.. you have to give them a little bit but not too much or they won't feel the need to pay for more! It's just annoying to sit and talk and talk with these guys and you know they're not going to end up taking you into a private.

I've tried not using free chat but I got bored too quickly just sitting there waiting.

Also, I noticed that out of all the privates I've had, only one was from a guy that actually spoke with me in free chat beforehand.
