Now first let me say that I've never been a top chathost, I've never even made Fed-ex (1000 a week). However I have always averaged enough to where if I put in the hours I could have made Fed-ex. I've never been able to put in that many hours because of school and family issues, but I did have a schedule, my regulars, and a decent paycheck. Until recently...
Recently being the past 1~2 years. If any of you work iFriends you'll know what I mean that traffic is getting tough lately. It's really hit or miss when you log on. It's getting harder and harder for 1 busy hour to make up for the 2 or more dead ones you just had. I do free2private and you know it's getting tough when you rarely have people stop by in general.
So now (starting this month), my schedule is clear, yet the money isn't what it used to be.
I'm going to give it one hell of a shot this month, because i truely love this company. But I know I need to start looking at my other options if it turns out the way I think it might.
Sometimes a job outside the house would be more steady and for what I do, and I don't think that's right.
Are all the sites suffering like this? I understand my country (USA) is having a hard time, but checking out ALEXA stats with a few other sites to compare I've noticed the traffic to some of them are pretty high. Of course that doesn't mean they are making money.
What would some of you suggest? I have goals I'd really like to reach while I'm hosting, something to show for it ya know? I'm in my early 20s and can still pass for 18, I'd like to take advantage of it esp since I've been doing this for so long now. |

This isn't going to be very helpful but I hear ya... and I don't think you're the only one having this problem.
In the past month I've been making less money working more hours too, it's the economy I suppose. I have a loyal base of regulars but the traffic has sunk on other sites too and paying customers are getting as rare as hens teeth.
I have moments where I think about getting a steady, pay by the hour job too... then I remember why I quit my last one and get back online. lol.
All we can do is ride it out I suppose. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. |
