First let me say hello. I was on here months and months ago, and got some great insight and information from many of the ladies, in particular Minnie and BlackSexxx. Due to circumstances in life, I couldn't work as a performer at the time I was posting. What can I say, life happens. Confused

At the time I was posting, I was considering working for Webcam.com or ImLive, and still am. But before I install my camcorder equipment and sign up with the companies, my question is.... what type of high speed internet do you ladies use and or prefer?
I am in the South and we have Cox Cable here. I like Cox highspeed internet, however whenever we have a snow/ice storm the lines go down, and it happens quite often. So, I was considering DSL. According to SBC global/AT&T who owns DSL, they say that the upload and download is much faster and non-shared like Cable is.
Again, these are both Highspeed Internet companies, and I'm trying to make the decision on which one to go with as far as connectivity and fastness are concerned.
I know how important this is for upload speed on a cam site.

Anyone with an opinion on this, please let me know...
I will also post this in the Tech area as well.
Again, hello to all and thanks.. Smile

Well internet companies who offer high speed will always say they are the fastest, what they fail to let you know your high speed internet service determines the area you live in.

Some connections come in faster depending if your getting your signal from a tower and how close you are to the tower.

IF the ISP companies off you a FREE promotion for a certain period of time i.e 3 months free, try it or depending on the price try one for 3 months cancel it and try the other one.

I know it's hassle finding the right internet package since in some areas they are really high priced and others they are reasonable prices some places charge like 50 to 300 a month for internet.

I use Rogers cable it goes down sometimes but not often .... and the router works great. then I also got bell your know life stuff happens Bell Sympatico is DSL they claim they are 7meg in speed their modem is also a built in router. and they had a 3 month free promotion guess what Rogers being 3megs speed is faster.

you will just have to find one that fits your budget and your service area. also when your broadcasting cam shows if your speed is high speed but still seems a bit slow it helps if your not listening to music from your computer but have a speaker or streoeo system and no instant messengers and not browsing the internet.

hi barbie

i had the best services from both, dsl and cable when i had the promotional package....yes, when it was free....seems like once i started to pay, the speed fell short of what they promised...of course, there was headaches with both, just like a car you drive, and the traffic you encounter traveling different roads....
then there was the good days as well, ad they outnumbered the bad days...

test drive them both, and make a decision that best suits your needs...hope you do well in whichever you choose...Smile

I suppose this is just one of those areas where I will have to take a chance and hope for the best.
Unfortunately, there are no promo packages on either, so I don't think the speed will be affected by that.
I just know I currently am a customer with Cox, and according to them my upload speed is 512KB.
If I go with DSL, they say their upload speed is 1MB.

So, according to what I've been told, DSL would be faster. I realize that Cox is shared, so it does depend on how many people are on at any one given time in my neighborhood. Where as DSL is controlled by how close you are to a tower. If I were to ask either company, they would say they had the best and fastest service and of course that their towers were adjacent to my home and everything else I would "want" to hear.

I could just keep Cox. I was just trying to bundle everything in order to save some $. But then again, not too many people I know have experiences with DSL internet or the fiberoptic cable television that comes with the bundle offer...

So.....I could get the next level of Internet service through Cox if I find it too slow. I guess I was hoping someone could magically make my decision easier for me by telling me some horror story they've had with DSL and/or Cox... LOL.

Thanks for your input and if anyone else has any suggestion on those companies, please let me know.
Kisses.

lol... i hear you...decisions...decisions....

just because they don't advertise the test drive, and or promo, ask for it....all they can say is yes or no.....might work for you.

barbie....those are good speeds, take it! Smile

What you could always do if they claim they don't have a promotion is ask about thier return policy and what will they do if your not satisfied. they will pretty much do anything to keep a sale or get you to buy.

Well, I just decided to stick with my current Cable company. I figured if it isn't broke, why fix it. LOL.
Yes, the other company (SBC) did advertise high download and upload speeds. But as Minnie said, that is all based upon how far or how close you are to a tower, etc., etc., etc. So, I decided to stick with what I have... But, I may do as Spider suggested, and ask my current company if they have any type of "specials" or upgrades on speed. I know they have specials on their cable television, so why not with high speed internet.... If all else fails, I should be making enough money as a chat host that I could spend the extra 10 bucks a month and upgrade to the fastest speed they have...

Thanks for your input though, it was very helpful.

Kisses. smile
