You will need a lot of light to use on a camcorder, ,and adding splitcam just weakens your video feed. it's better to use less programs when broadcasting your show.

I use a JVC-290 video I love that camera because the remote control has an option on it to take photos. so if I am ever in a sticky position I can always take a picture to add to my photo gallery later.

I also use for lighting a photographer protrait light it's 100watts, works great in giving me lighting for shows, and makes my video picture very clear.

I never used splitcam before but I do have a video caputre device I use a usb video capture device from dazzle.

having that might help splitcam recongize that your broadcasting video.

Wtih lighting you just have to pratice position the lights do they do not burn your eyes. it takes some time to get them right once you do I suggest putting tape on the floor on the table that you have your lights so if you move them you know where to put them back, it's a hassle having them in the right spot them moving them around and forgetting where they were where everything was just perefect.

Another thought would be to try one of the infrared lamps. Your camera will probably have a filter for IR light, since CCD/CMOS sensors are overly sensitive to it vs normal light wavelengths. But extra IR, or taking the IR filter off the camera, will add extra light and brightness. Get the right balance and you should be able to add brightness without changing the color too objectionably.

Pure IR light can actually hurt your eyes, but since you'll still need other regular light too it should keep your irises closed enough to not have any real problems from it. Don't put the IR lamp or any other where it'd be too close to your central vision though, and move it around sometimes. You should never leave any light source where it's in the center of your vision for too long, it's very bad for your eyes..

Also, light gathering capability is related to the size (aperture) of the lens and the sensitivity of the sensor. Thus when you're shopping for a cam you want a big lens with a good sensor. Pay special attention to this with web cams, often they have a larger glass cover over the lens, and if you look past it you'll see a tiny dot of a lens at the center..

I'm a tech, just took a couple of broken cams and rebuilt a working one out of them and will be doing similar from now on because it's fun. When I run into cams that are particularly well suited to low light I'll put up a post..
