I worked for a web-cam studio about 8 years ago where I was paid a flat rate of $25.00 an hour at a 3 hour minimum which I did 3 times a week. I had another job so it was good extra money at the time. Now I'm a little older and wiser (I thought I was). Until I started checking out all of these web-cam sites, HOLY COW! My head started to spin.
I went out and bought a logiteck pro-cam and thought I'd get started again. I answered an ad on Craig's List where you can make a lot of money doing this cam hosting thing part time. Perfect. Well I signed up under a "studio" where they controlled everything and would help me get started. They were signed up under cams.com (streamray). Their site was ok at first, and then after 4 days I kept getting bumped off. I was getting frustrated and after 6 days my "studio" people would not answer the phone or emails. I called streamray directly and told them my situation. The studio had quit with them and moved on. Two days later the "studio" sends me an email saying they had to many problems with cams.com as their servers were always over-loaded. So they became a part of imlive.com. They said it was so much better so come work for us again. Problem is when I went to register on their site, the link to their flash player will not record a snapshot of my face for their records. My cam works, I checked. And the girl from the studio said I can't go to independent, I have to wait 60 days if I cancel with them before I can go independent as my paper work was already submitted (for imlive.com). Errr. All I want is a decent site with traffic (who doesn't?) to pay some bills. LOL. If I get into it, great! I'm terrible at figuring out computer stuff. I barely get by. I liked "flirt4free.com'. But I also noticed they want you to be exclusive with them. But they do link you to their other cam sites. So the point is, they all seem to pay around the same from what I've read in Hony's reviews. Also, how can I test if my macromedia flash 9 was installed and is working?
Thank's and Desparate

| Hmm I've never worked for a studio before so I've never heard of a binding contract preventing you from going independent. Why didn't you sign up independently with ImLive? As far as I'm concerned Imlive has the BEST host features. The $$ is good, their customer service for hosts is great compared to some other sites (unless you speak with someone the phone then you can forget it), but all in all I like Imlive the best. I started working there back in 2005 and now I do it full time. If you're going to do this then go independent. Studios are bad news all the way around. |

I know, there is way more choices out then there was 5 to 10 years ago it's amazing of how much the webcam industry has grown. and because of still some new girls not really having the knowledge of where to get started they get trapped into being a studio when if they did a little homework they could be independent with the exact same site that offers a studio account.
Here are sites that have studio and indepdent list, there is more out there but these are the ones I know from the topic of my head ImLive, Streamate, cams.com aka streamray inc. (streamray inc) goes by many names out there but a trick is when you see a site that goes by a name you can scroll down to the bottom of the site to see what they really from. i.e livecams.adultfriends or something in that nature if you go to the bottom of the link and you see the FINE print streamray inc. There is also livecamnetwork as well, a lot of sites say they want to be exclusive to them, but the fact is with soo many girls and guys doing webcam you have to be on multiple sites sometimes just to make ends meet depending on what your expenses are. a lot of performers use a webcam spliter or install multipl video drivers on thier computer so they can work more then one site as a time even goes as far as using more then computer at a time.
imlive is a good site for newbie webcam girls, just because of thier layout and support system. streamate they are good to start off wtih as well. I think to test your webcam wtih flash you can go on the micromedia website and do that. also if you download like msn messenger or yahoo messenger and go to webcam studios you can test out your cam to make sure it is working. |
