CAMCORDER FOR DUMMIES:))

I'm looking into buying either a new/used camcorder instead of using the webcams. I here the best webcam is still subpar compared to a camcorder so I'm willing to invest in one. Could someone please explain to me EXACTLY what the camcorder needs to have to be able to broadcast video. Also is it possible to take snapshots with camcorders?

I know you need a video capture card. Are there just a few that are compatible with most camcorders or are there dozens that are only compatible with specific manufacturers? And what is the general price for the capture card?

I dont know if I can just buy any camcorder and use a video capture card or if only specific cams are capable of streaming video. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Well with camcorders for webcam shows it would be a good idea to get one wiht a remote control.

Those models are hard to find and sometimes the sale people look at you weird when you ask for the cameras with remote control.

There is the Sharp DVL-100 I got that referbushied and it has a remote control zoom, and it also take digital photos but I always had to click on the camera to take the photo.

but then I found this Fwink snapshot program that takes photos from ANY camera or webcam http://lundie.ca/fwink/ its free and it works FABULOUS.

now for the capture devices you can get one from www.dazzle.com its a video capture but it plugs in by usb and it works with ANY camera so if you find a camera with no remote control zoom but it still has zoom you can use that capture device. for it

video cameras depending on the features and what brand your looking for are 250 and up. shop around on ebay, and ebanned, and in electronic stores, that are not a common name. like you have a strip mall that has weird names but they sell computers, and cameras. don't always go to the big name stores like wal-mart or best buy for a camera, look around for a local computer/electronic shop. as well.

I use a sony handycam with remote zoom and have never had a problem with it !! I love the crystal clear picture it streams!! I started with just the one that uses the tiny tapes cause I was unsure if the quality would really be there ... I then bought the sony handycam that does DVD and WOW they are both awesome but for uploading vids that are not taken in the room that I do sessions in the dvd one is the best! You can pick them up for a decent amount (from 250.00 for tape and 400-450.00 for dvd).. I started with just a cheap webcam and when I upgraded to the camcorders it made the difference.. just thought I would add my 2 cents cause I rave about these cams when I see a question of good camcorders!! check out ubid.com they sometimes have them cheap!!
