Dear forum members,

I wonder if CamContacts site's software made to conflict with ImLive site's software and another way around?
When I try to use both of the sites live, they both freeze real bad...
I have to force my lappy to shut down when this happen, it wouldnt even do it normally.
Both site freezes after a vewer enters live chat on either site...
And it freeze the computer over all, internet explorer seem to go nuts, using like 35 k of memory and its impossible to turn it off, other then to force computer to shut down, absolutely impossible to work both sites at the same time...
Could anyone recommend a solution to it pls?
I just got a very powerful laptop and was hoping it wouldnt have that problem ...
I use internet explorer 7 and the problem was with the older version as well.
Can IE cause that problem? What would be a better browser?
I tried 2 softwares to devide my video stream, such as:
DV driver
Splitcam

and they both freeze those sites just the same.
I wonder if "camsplitter" will do any differently?
I tried to contact support of all those 2 program developers, but they ignore such inquiries, (camsplitter guys dont know about it and sudgest me to try their soft) ...I tried to post this question on splitcam site's forum, but they promptly deleted my post twice (wonder why??? Also, I looked up their site's phone # on "who is", but they listed wrong number with too many digits- isnt that weird??? Some food for thought to cam girls!!!)
I really want to use one camcorder and one lappy to go on both sites...
IM sure, most of hosts do it just this way, please gals, share how you do it?
Both sites clame that their soft isnt made to conflict with each other, but logically, it doesnt look so.
I can have vewers on msn, yahoo or eyeball simultaneously with one of the sites- no problem...
Mabe, it has something to do with settings of the browser or something...
I got n advice to use firefox browser for camcontacts, but it didnt solve anything, the part of camcontacts soft doesnt use the browser...

Any advice very welcome, mabe some useful links...?
Thanx for any help!

Hi,

I own and operate icu2cams.com and frequently have issues of home performers with freezing video. Our requirements to get the best possible broadcasts require lots of processor speed, fast cams and minimum 512 megs of ram. I am not sure what the sites you are trying to access require. But here are my thoughts from experience.

Laptops, even the latest and greatest, have too little processor speed to handle more than 5 frames per second. Then when you add the extra load of splitting your cam this causes your processor to bog down and not be able to keep up with all the video information you are trying to push through it.

You will also want to have a minimum of 512 megs of ram, 1 gig is better. Even with the extra ram a laptop processor will still probably freeze on you trying to push all that extra video from the split cam.

You could also have a problem if you are not using a fast cam, at least a "certified 2.0 USB". So combine a laptop with a slow cam and you are asking for the big freeze.

When you split your cam it is asking for mega processor speed to keep up. Sure you will be able to ym and broadcast on one site as this does not require the same load on your laptop as two sites will.

You could do a processor speed test and see what is going on. Take a look at the task manager when you are using the split cams on two sites or even one site if you cannot manage to get on both. If your processor speed is more than 50% when you are just sitting still and waving your hand then you are in trouble of freezing.

Hope this helps???

Doug

ty Doug,
but as i mentioned, my lappy is much more powerful then those requirements. Over 2400 $, so. Although I suspect, mabe my video card has problems, I have to call dell to find out.
Task manager doesnt show too much activities either.
I think, it has lots to do with IE 7, this is what freezes so bad, although I tried to put similar settings as on my PC ( not sure but looks like my PC can handle those 2 sites now, since I changed a port # for CamContacts and chose settings on software to get less FPS). Now, basically, ImLive site alone cause same problems. It never worked with my lappy from the start and I thought it has to do with running simultaneously with camcontacts. I contacted them (imlive)so many times about it and finally they sent me few instructions and how to test.... I didnt try it yet. Heres most detailed description about whats going on with IMLIVE and my lappy:

when i start session, the sound works. Right after a viewer/or free viewers enters, noone can hear me and i see myself that sound stopped to work. When i try to close the chat, I c on the buttom of the browser:"wating for the http://imlive.com/hostmembers.asp?cls... and on the top of the browser: "connecting..."
and thats how it freezes so bad that I have to force laptop to shut down, if i try to open new IE window, it freezes bad too. I have Media Edition of windows, IE 7, very powerful laptop. I turned off MC Affee firewall and privacy, using windows own ones. (That helped just a tiny little, I can work somehow with imlive till i want to take pix or try to close the chat) I also use router now, but this shouldnt be a problem, cause nothing changed since I was using my lappy connected straight to cable.
Still looking for help, I dont hope much on help from imlive tech Sad
TY.

Hi Sweets,
Hmmm, well I originally thought your video was freezing but now I do understand it's your browser.
I can only suggest that you re-install Internet Explorer 7 as I had my own problems with this new browser version also.
Or you could try uninstalling IE 7 and installing IE 6 and see what happens.
Good Luck,
Doug
