Hony,
How about a room decor poll?
What kinds of setups seem to work or not. are liked, or not.
Personally, I like the room to look more like a bedroom
than a studio (even if it is a studio). That means:
something on the wall - posters, art, whatever.
night stand with a lamp or plant, whatever
pillows, like a person's bed would have.
If I were a cam host, I'd never want to work in a room that looked
identically for anyone else in the studio. I'd bring, pillow, sheets, anything to change it to create a unique visual.
It's all part of the packaging.

One of the things I dislike about peekshows is that some of the rooms look like someone tossed a few sheets on the wall and if they sticked, all the better. There are also rooms that I swear, look like the model in in a cardboard box.....
To me, the model needs to show a personallity. Visuals assist in that. The bedroom idea is good, also a living room type setting can be good (getting a private show and getting the model to lay on the couch and.... opps// getting carried away here...). Secret friends does a decent job of the bedroom theme that Dan mentioned, but the posters on the wall need to be updated.
There should be a rule though...no stuffed animals.... Makes me think I am a dirty old man.... wait a minute. |

Couple more thoughts while on the subject.
I wish the models would kick beggars more often. Nothing is more irritating then saying hi to a model and seeing 300 requests for tits or ass or whatever. The model then starts to ignore chat and then starts to talk only to those that she 'knows'.
One of the nice things about pornication and 247live is that you can see who else is in the chat room. It really serves little purpose, but I like to know who my 'competition' is. Also, I get to know the regulars a bit. Then we can gang up on the beggars after the model gets exasperated. |

Yeah, I know what you mean about the beggers. But I believe they serve a (albeit, dubious) purpose also. If the free room is 25% less pleasant with them there (whatever that means), then it might drive 5% more prospects to open the wallets and get the camhost alone (i.e. away from the noise). A zero-conflict free room provides less reward for "upgrading".
I selected numbers at random of course. As far as I know, Zogby hasn't done a poll or anything
I a "dream system", (monthly) paying members might have the priviledge to boot zero-balance visitors. But there's a few other
policies that go with that to make it work for all the stakeholders.
Many non-trouble makers would pay for this priviledge.

Just checking out old posts....This is a VERY INTERESTING post! I'm surprised the thread is so short. Great question Dan!
I think it's cool to have things that relates to a chat host's hobbies/interests. A top chat host at ImLive, AmyLynne, does that. (BTW, I think her profile at ImLive is the most intelligent, original profile in the sexual adult area. Check out AmyLynne's profile and see for yourself! She inspired me to also include my interests in my profile at ImLive). |

One of the best things you can do in terms of decor is make sure that the color of the wall (or the sheet) behind you is complementary to your skin tones. Figure out if you're a spring, summer, fall or winter (this book will helphttp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0345345886/qid=1114278760/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/002-9822289-4289649?v=glance&s=books&n=507846 by the way) and then make sure that one of the colors that works for you is behind you. You may have to try a few as just because it works for you does not mean that it will work on cam.
Lighting is also VERY important. You'll need more than just a 60 watt incandescant bulb. I've found that a 500 watt photography bulb works well. Make sure that the light is in front of you to avoid shadows.
As for decorating.... it's amazing how a couple of silk plants can brighten up your work space. Avoid clutter. You don't want anything distracting the viewer from your beautiful body At the same time you don't want to look industrial. Try to create a warm, cozy environment without involving stuffed animals and flannel. |

| A couple great points being made here, one exceptional topic was that there are guys that like to rescue girls away from the obnoxious beggars and feel they are making points with her by doing so, so we tolerate them as long as possible. The origional post about decor is also well directed and Madisons point of proper decorating colors makes good sense. Plain colors, bright and cheerfull, a smiling woman with a great body and a simple degree of personalization will do what it takes to make a guy feel at home in a girls room. He'll drop his pants but leave his wallet on the desk...whatta guy! |

Rooms which are light and airy but cosy do it for me. I just finished decorating part of the house recently, and it's amazing how some paint colours look bright and cheery, until you apply it to a room. Thankfully you can buy paint samplers...I like bright colours! |

| My god it's been ages since I last posted but anyway, decor comes third for me after good lighting and good quality cam. No amount of soft cushions and pertinent art (what the hell is that?) make any difference to a grainy, poorly lit model. That said, I have to confess in the early years way back to being captivated by a Greek model lounging in a 60's leather armchair under nothing more than a 100W bulb... you could almost hear the cicadas humming. Of course times change; now I need to see loads of light, good image resolution and then perhaps soft colours, cushions that mean the model can adopt comfortable positions, a homely bedroom feel and last of all please, no pre-revolution radiator in the background! It would be interesting to have the views of a Feng Shui expert on this; provided they don't say red, red ,red! :-D |

They'll want mirrors and fishtanks! Actually mirrors are good -- have you seen Myka's room? Wall-to-wall mirror, it works out really nice.

Thanks.
Good point about the hobbies / interests.
My observations as a viewer is that actual conversation happening in the room reduces the begging... or at least makes it easier to visually filter / ignore .. which leads beggers to leave more quickly on their own. (I realize this can be very difficult when the primary language of the site is not the native language of the host)
Having something part of the decor or even as a "conversation prop" could help start conversations. |
