I am working from home and work about 8hrs a day. Unfortunately I don't have unlimited bandwidth for my dsl. I am spending about $400 a 12gb of bandwidth a month. Sometimes I even go over my limit! Is there something I need to do to my computer to make my bandwidth smaller? I am running mostly at 10fps and selected 128kbps speed for broadcasting my shows. I have windows xp home sp1. Please help. |

the obvious is reduce your hours, less hours means less data sent; find dead times in your shift to take breaks with the cam off, dont use the computer for downloading "large files" off p2p like kazaa and bittorrent (which will upload as you download)
upgrade to sp2 if you can; one of the more and lesser known features is it limits half-open (syn, but no ack) outbound connections; this may save you a little bandwidth (and sp2 is better anyway:)) |

| You can also lower your frame per second if your software allows it. I usually set my computers to 5 fps and have had no complaints from website customers. |

I suggest you shop around for another provider. I am not sure where you are from but there is many other options out there.
For me I am on cable modem I get 3mps package from Rogers Cable I was with Bell Canada DSL but they are way too slow, plus I also have wireless internet connection on my laptop sometimes I share with other internet users who have a wireless routers in my neighbourhood who have no idea I am sharing with them
Maybe invest in a wireless antena for your computer or laptop, and show around for packages that have broadband or DSL I am paying 45$ a month for unlimited internet access 60gig downloading and uploading I never go that high and I am online about 10 to 20 hours a day or night. |
