Can I Block users in my home city from visiting my room?

I assume this is the correct forum for this question. I am new here and I am absolutely paranoid about users that live in the same city that I live in recognizing me in my room! I'm sure I'm not the only one who thought of this, but what if people that I went to school with or worst yet my family members stumble upon me in my room. Or what if an old boyfriend wants to out me and he videotapes me broadcasting from my webcam and sends it to my family members to humiliate me? The internet is big, but is not that big when it comes to popular webcam sites. And 9 out of every 10 men look at these live cam sites and that includes our brothers and fathers too! So chances are damn good that someone will recognize us.
Is there a way to block visitors from certain geographical locations and cities from visiting my room? This would allow alot more people to broadcast from their homes with no fear of being recognized. Is there a way to at least see each user's IP address so I know what city they are in? Seems to me that the web cam companies would get a lot more willing models if they could block people from their Home towns from seeing them online. Thats probably the main reason that more people dont do it is because they dont want people they know to see what they do.

Most camsites have this feature already! You failed to tell us what camsite your talking about. Maybe if we knew we could help you more.

If you really care so much about nobody you know seeing you; are you sure this is the right thing to be doing? There are no 100% guarantees of privacy. Someone may capture a pic of you and share with this friend etc.

Thanks for the info Kim and Hony. I emailed several webcam sites (CamContacts, Spread4u,cumtv, LiveJasmin,etc) they all told me that there is no way to block visitors from certain citys from entering your live webcam broadcast. I know that Camcontacts lets you block your Picture/video archives from being accessed in certain geographic locations, but it doesnt allow you to prevent those people from visiting you in a live chat session. What webcam companies allow the models to do this that you know for sure? Thanks again.

Actually I asked this question by email to "iFriends, ImLive, icu chat, camcrush, Flirt4Free, pornification" They all told me they didnt have anything like that, unless they misunderstood me.. Are you sure that most webcam sites have that ability? Thanks

I know for a fact ImLive has this feature. It's during the performer signup where you can enter zip codes to be blocked. Yes, I think they misunderstood you!.

I live in the Philippines and many sites block this country , But I can get into any site I want , and I'm sure there are guys out there much better at this then I am . All they need to do is turn on a PROXY SERVER and connect to your room with that . Good Luck .

I sort of have the opposite question - is there any way that I can get around the ActiveX/javascript country-blocking that LiveJasmin has implemented in the last month or so? Using another IP address doesn't work - I need software to trick the ActiveX software into thinking I'm not in Russia.

I work for iFriends and Webcams.com both of witch offer area blocking. Does anyone know any other sites that do? Because I'm really tired of Ifriends.

I recall that iFriends and Webcamnow allowed areas to be blocked. You may want to consider ways of shielding your identity. Unless you are planning to compete in Miss USA, Miss America... you should do OK. Try to be creative in the ways inwhich you protect your identity. If you are from a city or state with a high cost-of-living, you may not want to block those locations.
But you are correct, the world is getting smaller and smaller. I believe that adult have sexual needs that can be met safely through the Internet. I also feel that the commercial adult webcam sites are committed to ensure that only adults will be able to view nudity. With all that said, do what Nike says... JUST DO IT!
