Hi,
I am looking at setting up a webcam chat host site, and I really would like to understand from chat hosts what would be there ideal work package. I have an idea of what the percentages are from other sites, but I want to know what else matters.
By package I mean everything, the percentage, hours worked, what they expect for there money, there interaction with the site etc etc.
I believe for the enterprise to be truly successful it has to be a win win situation for both the chat host and the site.
If you have any ideas that would help me, please feel free to comment as I really want to know.

Ideal? One with lots of money? 
How about one where you don't spend hours and hours in free chat with guys who never want to play.
I would like to see something more like with a "tipping" scheme so they can pay small amounts ($1) for a flash of this or that while in public free chat.

Ok, the tipping scheme would be very easy to implement I think... I will build it in to my new design.
Not much I can do about you spending hours with guys that don't want to spend money though. Its really up for you to tease the guy into parting with his money.
Anyhow great idea, happy to hear more. |

Not sure how sites rank in terms of performer payout. I mean is real $$$'s not percentages. Could you do such a review?

We are implementing limited free chat; ie. if you account is empty and you have never spent any money on the site - free chat limited to 15 minutes per day! So far looks encouraging but only been a few days - will keep you posted on how the experiment goes.

How do you control the 15 minute? IP address or cookie or session? People are good at cheating at such things. Maybe you better not tell me!
Is 15 min the right length? Guess you can experiment with different priods but it seems a little short to me.

While, I'm not against tipping. I can't imagine administering it on a per person basis.
"I want my money back"
"She flashed too quickly"
"Her video froze, I didn't see"
"She didn't do what I asked"
Of course all those things could be lies, or not.
My idea is a "Tip Show" feature.
Each person in the free chat "puts money on the table"
in any amount they wish.
Everyone in the free chat can see who has money on the table
and the total (though not how much per person).
The camhost sets the "trigger amount and the act"
e.g.
"$10 for 3 minutes nude - legs spread"
When the money on the table gets to $10, the
software gets a ready-set-go click from each person with
money on the table, freezes everyone else out.
(well, gives everyone else one last chance for 30 seconds
to get money on the table for say... 20% of the trigger price
- this impulse really improves the camhost's revenue).
Then the software controls the time period.
If EVERYONE who had money on the table clicks "COMPLAIN"
afterwards, clearly there was a problem with the Internet,
software, host, whatever. Sure there will still be some complaints, but at
least for more many than a dollar at a time.
Some people want text chat on during a Tip Show, some off. So make the software to both.
Obviously is someone leaves the room, their money is off the table.
The camhost sees the tip history and account info per person. That almost goes without saying.
Camhosts don't care if it's $1 each from 10 people or $10 from one person. Tippers can tip directly also, even without the Tip Show,
but not in exchange for anything specific (policy).
The camhost sets the duration, the trigger price and the Tip Show contents.
The Tippers RATE 1-5 after the tip show is over.
This encourages good Tip Shows and attracts tippers to them.
It's all about creating a price point where everyone wins.
The standard gallery/free/nude/private has much room for improvement.

Thanks. But, assuming you understood it when it was on the screen in menus and buttons to click or whatever, do you think that would be a good feature - from the camhosts' perspective ?

Actually I'd rather have the $1 for the 1 flash. It's simpler and means I'm not going to have to try to push people to put more money in the pot.
If they are not happy with my flash then they can go somewhere else.

There's wishful thinking 
Seriously though, offering free group chat is essential to leading customers into the private (read: pay) shows. Cutting guys off after 15 minutes etc. I'm not a big fan of either in most cases. It sends a strong message "PAY MONEY OR LEAVE" which, I'm sure you all agree is what you ARE thinking, but you don't want the customer to know it!!!
Ideally, use a lower bandwidth feed for the free group chat to cut down costs, keep the group rooms small, use a moderator so the performer can focus on teasing/selling, and ensure your talent *converts*. Smiling, friendly, attractive, flirty, no-attitude ladies are most likely to convert the best. Grumpy, disinterested, laying motionless, etc. turns customers away.
Now in terms of your real question: the best setup. Once you've attracted interest from some top-flight talent (e.g. through ads, etc.), discuss what their current setup is - assuming they use another service. You can negotiate, but as stated elsewhere anywhere from 30-50% of the gross take should be expected! (So figure that into your business plan )
Let her set her own hours but try to strike a balance across all days/hours - if no performer wants Fri/Sat night shifts, then suggest a rotating schedule. Pay twice a month after you get your $$ from your payment provider and build this into the contract. Performers want payout guarantees! As well, get in there wording regarding fraudulent sales so the performer knows she won't get paid for a show that was charged back, etc. (just like you won't get paid!).
Lastly, review any potential agreement with a good lawyer thoroughly.

You're forgetting someone... the client! From a client's point of view:
1-What i'd like to see is a significant discount when buying large blocks of time/credits/tokens. The more you buy, the greater the discount. You will lose a little to those who actually use that option, but at least they will spend it on your site.
2-I also think 15 minutes per day is too short. I can watch a girl (I never beg though) for hours before going pvt. There are just too many models out there, if clients are kicked out after 15 minutes every day, they simply won't bother visiting. I know I wouldn't. A option would be to let the client see the model and allow a few minutes to ask some questions but when the question period is over, it's back to video without chat.
3-Have a voyeur option. Good for clients with few credits left.
4-Make semi-private show visible to freeloaders (or only those who had shows and/or those with credits) in a tiny blurry window but make full private just that... private.
5-Good, fast video in private and nude/semi-pvt show.
6-Have a larger screen option for full private. A good one, not just bigger pixels.
7-Show the viewers how many users are in nude/semi-pvt. I don't bother with nude chat when I can't see what's going on in there (see #4). Too often I went in a room and the model can't chat coz there are too many guys in her room. I simply get out frustrated with less credit in my pocket. A frustrated client is a non-returning client.
8-I'm sure I can think of something else  |
