| I can't reach the CamContacts site. Does anyone know if anything is wrong with it? |

| likewise unable to get in there for the last 2 days. was just chatting with one of the hostesses who is at an i-cafe in the phils. she said that her "office" was raided...the girls taken to jail. unknown as to charges. |

I hope CamContacts will be back soon, I am there more than 2 years and never had problems with them,they always paid in time and friendly support. hope they will solve their problems soon   |

Yep I hope they come back too -- the also owe me a lot of money! 
But after the police shut you down and take away all your computer equipment for "evidence" it is a bit hard to come back.
The law can be unfair like that -- even though no crime is proven they are still punished.

| I got through to the CamContacts site. There is an apology on the front page, they have been hit by a "Distributed Denial of Service" attack. |

Response CamContacts Helpdesk on my E-mail dd:29-12-2003
This is e-mail is to explain the current situation with CamContacts.net as you might have experienced difficulties or been unable to access the site recently. For the last 7 days CamContacts has been under continuous DDoS attack which rendered the site being unavailable at times. We could not predict the scale and the consequences of the disaster - this attack is 30 times bigger than ever experienced before. Unfortunately, our system was unable to handle this size of attack which is why the site has been down for the last 24 hours. We have quickly responded to the situation and purchased new high-end equipment which is currently installed and tested by our IT staff. We are working on a solution to prevent this from happening in the future with co-operation with our ISP and a reputable Security Company. This should help us to bring the site back online and get through the attack. At this stage we can estimate that the service should be restored tonight (GMT time). Unfortunately, this downtime means that we are unable to respond to inquiries made to our Help Desk in our usual timely manner and currently have a pending backlog of inquiries which will all be processed as soon as full service is restored. Also, all information necessary to receive Chathost and Referrer revenues will be entered by then. We bring our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused and hope you can bear with us during this downtime. |
