Hi,
What a great site.. just what I am looking for.
I am looking at starting a webcam chat site using an old domain and a webserver I have.
So I need loads of info on how the best way to proceed is.
I would also like to contact chat hosts to get there view on what would be considered a good performers package. I see this being a win win situation between the chat host and the website and would really like to get there ideas prior to putting something together.
I would of course be interested to hear from anyone with start-up advice.
Best regards for now.

Hi, welcome to the forum. There are plenty of people here who can help you -- just need to convince them to do so.

I am looking for the same type of advice, I have a server and a domain and am looking for the best type of software to use, as well as where to find providers, and some traffic strategies. Any ideas?

Hi, Welcome to the forum.
Really this site is more about girls and the viewers so there is less info about setting up sites -- but seeing as I get so many questions about this I really ought to start a section on it!
First thing -- you really should get to know the business from both ends of the camera before you get started. At least that's my feeling.
Then try some marketing other sites, do the affiliate route -- only then when you have some idea of the market and the possiblities is it time to get into software and your own site.
There are several companies who provide software or even turnkey systems -- but most of the sites you see using these are total failures because they don't understand the business itself.

| Hi Hony, Thanks for the quick reply. I have extensivly checked out the industry, and am not getting into this half cocked at all. We have already gone the affiliate route, as well as sampled the major sites out there from both ends of the spectrum. We are considering developing the software required ourselves or finding one we like which is already developed. From what I have seen so far, most of what is available for lease or rent is pretty crappy. We are determined to make a success of this, and are trying to do as much home work as possible to ensure we do. |

Hi Iain,
I noticed your post was from December. I hope things are going well for you. My one word advice to you and Mr Big is "differentiation".
You are entering a very crowed (dare I say, "mature") marketplace.
Hallucinating that your site's "unique value proposition" is which people are working it or what your pay package is or what your price point is for customers, or (holy moly) what you website name is, would be a huge mistake, in my opinion.
You need to differentiate yourself from the pack with special and unique products and services that the audience you can reach is will to pay for. As Hony said in another thread, "that's just economics, nothing to unique to webcam hosting." It's not important if it's exclusive or not. Nothing will be exclusive long anyway. But if it's special, if your audience sees it first from you, you've got a shot at beating the curve on things like conversion rate, turnover and repeat frequency.
(shameless plug warning)
I have a new software product that can do that for you.
(warning off)
