I need some info please. How would I go about getting my business liscense. Not send for 1 or purchase 1 I know where to get 1. But, do I have to name my business the same as my camsite? Or name it anything I like and name the site something different. Can I do that? Thanks!

Whcih part of the world are you from

Usuaully the city hall in your town has a business registration department

I know for mine in Canada I registered my business on the Canadian Goverment website cost me 60.00 and If I want to be registered as an internetional business name I have to pay the extra 20.00 and fill out paper work to make it INC.

Hello Kim; you will need to go to the city hall where you live and file whats called a "Ficticious Name Form" You then take that to the business lisence part of the same place and file there for your business lisence. They will interview you and ask questions about sales taxes for your area. PM me and I can help you with some of the questions they will ask you.

Hi Kim as far as the the USA is concerned. They do and they dont care. Point here is this. You do not have to have your business name the same name as your site but you do have to register the site under your business name. When you send checks or payments to your models or anyone else you do business with make sure your business name is on the check. you can have your website name also but then you will be limiting yourself to owning just one website. Your business name on the checks is fine. In fact its better that way because banks out of the country have a safer feeling with cashing a check for a model if its a true registered business. If you send them personal checks then this will cause them problems with getting them cashed. They can cash them but it will take them almost twice as long. Register your business with your state, where we live you only need to register your business with your local government if you are opening up a store front.
Now as far as feds go this one gets tricky cause you can register for a tax id number. Your state will require the last part of your type of business, IE Inc, Co. Etc. The feds dont really care if you are just looking for the number. Be very carful how you go about doing this. Because you could end up screwing yourself in taxes. My personal advice would be just as a start. Dont bother, you can use your Social security number, just make sure when it comes to profits that you save most of your money for the 1st 6 months as if you do not go to a business accountant then the government will look at it as extra income and tax you accordingly. 40%. Ouch!!. So if the site starts doing well you can take all the money you have saved, go to a business accountant and explain to them you had opened the business online and it took off and sky rocketed and you did not have the time to register it. They will tell you its no problem, just make sure you keep all the finace records cause they will need them as proof you really did have a business going and you will just have to pay a small fee and go from there. Yes you will have to pay the tax but not as bad as 40% because its your records that are going to save your ass, IE we paid out 50% for the models fees and we paid out XXX for the server and hosting and the software etc. All those receipts will help you greatly. But if you register now and things dont go so well you will constantly get notifications from the irs about 1/4 taxes and trying to tell them the business has gone under or is no longer operateing is pretty tough. I still get notices on a business i had 5 years ago with my bro. We keep all the records for that also just in case. Good Luck.
