New Zealand Webcam site

Hi All,
Not to sure on proticol, and unsure whether I need to ask Hony for permission, but we are a small website company in New Zealand, that is setting up a adult web cam site for a client of ours.

I have some specific questions, and would love some assistance if that is ok
Firstly, where do we look for quality adult hosting that is reasonable in cost.
And secondly, is there Java software already available out there that we can modify so that we do not need to charge our cleint the world.

Any help would be great, and really enjoy the unbiased nature of the site, helpful for someone who has been doing corporate sites for the last few years.

Welcome pooks. I moved your message to the webmaster area which seems more appropriate.

For your second question; you'll get lots of different, and animated, answers from the others I'm sure so I'll leave it to them.

For the first -- lots of sites do adult hosting, but hosting a cam site is in rather a special category given the demanding load you will (hopefully) be putting on those servers.

I'm very happy with the host for this site (totalchoicehosting) but can't say if they could stand up to that kind of load.

Thanks for your reply, really are a babe in the woods here, so appreciate your help this far.

Apparently we need to find a hosting provider that has the capacity to handle streaming video, so that our client can have this functionality. Any reccomendations?

Also happy to not have to build the whole site from the ground up, so therefore also very happy to purchase a cam system already created, so feel free to tout your wares! Planning on it being in Java, with the rest of the site being specifically PHP.

And last but not least, we are aware that there is reporting neccessary for the administrators of the site, and we are aware of some potential ones, ie Client logins, Models logins, time in private etc, but are their any other ones we need to be aware of?

Cheers for your help, as far as we are aware, this will be a first for NZ!

OdysseyCam is a software ...AGAIN where we offer a customer a solution....we do it all...so saying we are JUST a Service..is just not true...we offer a usage license...whats the difference if you are using flash you still have to buy a license...firecracker...you still have to buy a license...etc etc.... So saying we are just a service...we are for the customer that wants it all...One stop shop for all...complete packages or integrated into your existing website.....Jeffrey

Just a suggestion... When looking for hosting, especially on the web, make sure they have redundant backups, FTP, (most of them do) and most importantly, a telephone number for support. Many of these "fly by night" hosting companies do not provide a support phone number and if your site goes down for whatever reason, the only way to contact them is email. But what if their email server is down too? YOU'RE SCREWED! Also make sure when dealing with bandwidth, that you will have what you need. If you go over your limit for the month, they will shut you down without warning! Many hosting companies will offer "Unlimited Bandwith", but there is always a catch. Read the fine print before signing up on these sites.
