Cams4usOnline since the end of 2004 cams4us is still a small site -- the design is very nice but still not too many people there. After some initial fast growth it seems to have flattened out and now you only see around 10 to 20 hosts online in free chat at a time. There is a range of different types of hosts online; though there tends to be more Asians -- read Filipina -- a lot of the time. This isn't AsianBabeCams though and you will also find plenty of blonds -- but no easy way to search out which ones are which. Though with only 20 online it is ok to just browse the thumbnails to find someone you like.
Jul 2005 they started to offer pay-by-phone, so no more credit card as a requirement. For legal reasons the pay by phone for USA is limited to 20 minutes per session, after those 20 minutes the session will be automatically disconnected. Pay by phone is now available for following countries : New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, Australia, Finland, Portugal, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany, United Kingdom and the States. Of course you can still purchase credits via credit card.
There is always the option to drop tips as well -- from a buck to $5. The video interface is a little complex with multiple tabs of information but after a few moments you can get the idea and it is quite powerful and convenient way to chat. In particular you may find it confusing that there are two separate text chats going on -- the "lobby" where the host and all the viewers chat together, then the "host" where you chat privately with the camgirl.
If the host talks to you privately while you are in the lobby the word "host" flashes to let you know you should check over there so it isn't really a problem and is actually quite a good idea to keep the general chatter separate. I'm not sure what the hosts' interface for this is like and wonder if it is confusing to keep up "private chats" with several different guys. Viewers who are paying by phone then should select their country and it tells you how much per minute it will cost you -- there is a LOT of variation. For example this host was 0.80/euro/minute for people phoning from The Netherlands while those from Italy are charged 1.80/euro/minute for exactly the same thing. Personally I would rather pay by epassporte or credit card, the latter is handled by paycom. I presume the difference is in the rake off that the phone company charges and there will be no difference in what the host is paid for their minute of time. As well as video you can "buy" recorded videos, it seems that once you have purchased them they are yours to view as many times as you want -- as long as you are a member at least. There is a couple seconds preview of each. Starting 2008 they have full screen video. Only for private chat with members though. If you are a unregistered guest you just get the basic size of video. If you don't like chatting without an account then a free account is really free - it asks for email but this is not checked, e.g. no validation emails to worry about. Pay rate for hosts is 50% which is good, up there with ifriends, payments are monthly though and with a $100 minimum. Cams4us.com will pay you once a month by check, money wire or western union. Actually I am not sure if they still do Western Union, some pages say yes but other say they stopped using that. As well as regular pay per minute you can earn from Client tips and Video Rental (60% payouts). The company is Dutch and you'll be faxing your documents to the Netherlands. The same company also used to run CuteGirls4U but no longer, now that is a front end for mycams.com which is livejasmin.
